Ok... So in my research I can find lots of nice saber tutorials for the hilt, blade, and electronics.

Now I've built my first two sabers, and in the next one I want something more...

I'd like to get actual sound effects in the saber...

    Sound effects desired:
    - Activation sound
    - Deactivation sound
    - Slight hum when stationary
    - In motion hum
    - Clash sound when I hit the blade against something

I've seen quite a few custom sabers online that claim to have these effects, but none with tutorials. While I'm fairly handy (can solder well, assemble circuits easily, etc..), electronics design was never my strong suite.

Anyone know of any good resources for "pimping my saber"?

Check out The Custom Saber Shop forums. There you will find lots of threads that show you how to incorporate an "economy Hasbro" sound board from the cheaper toy sabers, or the better MR/Hasbro FX saber sound boards, or other higher end sound boards into your lightsaber.

Designing your own sound board is much more difficult than most people realize, to have the sounds trigger at the proper time.

    Thanks Loreen!

And yes I'm aware it is a challenge, hence why its a hobby! :)

If I wanted easy, I'd make trooper armor.

(not intended to demean those who make trooper armor, I just see it as less technically challenging, and more of a time intensive "art" perfecting vacuum molding than the 'technical' challenge of designing and building circuitry)
