**Lightsaber Choreography Contest V Has Begun!**

Hm, suddenly I feel like I'm behind. I hate how it's always the last 5% of a shot that takes the longest. Damn this angle, the uh, "element" and flare just had to be right behind my hand...and the profile of my face...and my glasses...and my wrinkled coat sleeve...and there's only like 3 or 4 more shots like this. Roto is so fun

I forgot all about PraetorDrew. He's been in the contest for a while now and he just turned in his.

His entry is proof that the H.264 codec works perfectly. His entry is 864x480, 24fps, 3 minutes and 19 seconds long, audio is IMA 4:1 at 44.100kHz stereo, looks good it's only 17MB.

So there you go JediCow, when done right H.264 codec helps.

 

I'll mess around with Quicktime some more tomorrow, I'm kind of an idiot when it comes to these things.

 

I'm right up there on the idiot scale with you, my friend. At least you'll have some company.

Edit: I have summited the first (and lesser) of the two entries that I have worked on. Yea!!!

I should be summiting my second, 'better' entry within 12 hours.

 

ChrisK gonna have to pull out unfortunately. Sorry about the late notice, things have gotten really busy so we were unable to finish the last half or so. I still need to do it for an assignment so it'll be up on the net eventually. Search google or youtube for ChrisK and you'll find it when its up . Goodluck to all the contestants, can't wait to see the entries.

 

Gah, I switched out of H.256 because I couldnt get it to work well. I will get submitteded, it just rendering takes time and I keep messing up.

I just sent my PM. Looks like mine will be right after yours.

It has no roto. I just happen to have the next 2 days off, so I'm going to work non-stop to finish the roto and resubmit my entry with fx. I was just worried that I'd be so last minute that I'd forget how long it takes to render and upload that I'd miss the deadline. So I decided to send in a failsafe file so I at least have something. I asked if that would be ok a few pages ago and no one answered so I figured it would be.

And now....

back to the roto grind.

Well, I summited my second entry. I can't wait to see all of the final entries.

 

The beer is in the fridge, the popcorn is in the microwave, and my friends are ordering the pizza as we speak . . . .

Too bad our viewing party is being scheduled around Spider-Man 3. Everything else I watch this week will likely be biased due to it.

Incidentally, bonus points will be awarded for the use of attractive female combatants. Extra bonus points for attractive female combatants in "Slave Leia" costumes. Extra special bonus points if those attractive female combatants in "Slave Leia" costumes visit for a weekend choreography lesson - I need all the help I can get.

 

is that a typo or a metaphor of saying that your entry was like a mountain and you have finally reached the summit and proven your skills? the second one sounds cooler lol

and for everyone, we coreograpghed and filmed on sunday, even though it was quick, it was still a great fight.

... I'm sad that I didn't get to get our entry in... But that's what happens when you don't have a good camera, or enough day s to get together and choreograph something good...... hmmm, I could still judge if you need another one. And that way I don't feel totally left out. If so let me know what I need to do.

I'd be willing to judge. I'm no longer in this contest. I'm a previous contestant and, as modestly as I can say, I know a good fight when I see one. Lol, anyone could say that, but I've seen my share of sword fights and I've done my share of choreographing. So anyway, I'd be able and willing to be a judge.

 

Well I kinda decided to lie down last night around 2:30 while I did a render, and I kinda fell asleep. I woke up about a quarter to four and set my alarm to go off at six, figuring I could get some work done between then and when I go to work at ten. I didn't wake up until nine, and with not only sound and music left, but some VFX shots too, I thought "CRAP!" So I called up and was able to get the day off to finish my entry. W00T!

 

Did you tell your boss that you needed the day off to work on a Lightsaber Choreography Contest entry, or did you say something about explosive diarrhea?
