lightsaber fights too short

hello i have started this thread because i think that the lightsaber duels were too short in the atc.

in the other movies they were long and epic.

some thoughts

 

I think GL did some horrible editing when it came to the fights. I would have loved to seen the Obi/Dooku fight last a little longer.

 

i agree and the anakin v dooku fight was much too close up if you know what i mean

the yoda fight was good though

 

Terrible editing was the culprit!

 

hopefully episode 3 will be better,

Note the following is pure speculation, and should be taking as such:

I think that GL knew he would have Anakin and Dooku fight in ep iii, and he didn't want to upstage the fight in ep iii with the one in ep ii.

 

Instead of 3 duels, think of it as one duel. All 3 could not be as long and Luke/Vader in ESB, but 3 smaller duels in one long sequence accomplishes this.

 

I think the lightsaber duel between Obi-1 and Dooku was too short. But it showed what Obi-1 feared...that he couldn't take Dooku alone. But I wish Anakin vs. Dooku would have lasted longer since this is the first time we see Anakin as a Jedi duel.

 

yes i belive you are right but maybe lucas made it close up, to show that it was personal, anakin does say

"your going to pay for all the jedi you killed today dooku"

there always seems to be a little bit of rivalry i think!

He wasn't. Dooku said, "You dissapoint me. Master Yoda always held you in such high regard."

Obi-Wan was a great Jedi, but being a great Jedi is more than just mopping the floor with your opponent in a duel. Obi-Wan favored a defensive form of lightsaber combat designed to block laser fire anyway.

No, there is a pattern:

In the odd episodes (1,3,5) they are long and epic.

In the even episdos (2,4,6) they are short and confined to one room.

 

I thought the battles where short, but extremely fun!!!

i thot anakin handling 2 lightsabres cud have been done better. he was just swinging it in 360 degree turns over and over again. perhaps lucas is saving it for ep III

 

It's mostly talking in ROTJ, the actual saber-time is about the same as in ANH.

I liked all of the OT duels. Qui-Gon and Obi-1 vs. Maul was pretty good. Dooku vs. Anakin and Obi-1 and Yoda was very good if you combine the full time that it took for Dooku to take on all three of them.

 

I agree with Koen most of the ROTJ duel is mainly talking but it is very moving, it's kind of a mix but the actual saber time is shorter as it is in ANH.

 

oh come on "plo kook" has a nice ring to it.
I think the ot duels were more personal and emotional, very in fact. Might not be impressive moves but pretty impressive relations.

 

In my opinion the visual aspect of the duels are excellent. I would have preferred the Anakin-versus-Dooku one in AOTC to be a little longer, especially when he has two lightsabers.

 

IMO the fight in AOTC was way too short, and the fight in TPM was excellent except that it was mixed in with the other battles going on at the same time. I understand why GL that cinematically, but I wish I could have just seen the saber duel instead of the scenes going back and forth.

 

I wish the Dooku with two sabers scene ,against Yoda, had not been cut.

 

The whole exchange between Anakin, OWK, and Dooku in the hangar was excellent. Great lines, great confrontation, great lead-in to Yoda. The saber work may not have been edited that well, but it sure was a good scene nevertheless.

The purpose was really to show off how strong Dooku had become. Dooku basically mops the floor with Anakin and OWK. It was all build up for Yoda, who stole the show.

 

yoda was actually tired after the duel, i supose it was of a decent quality but agin i think it was way too short

 

The one thing that really gets to me is the editing. How Anakin and Dooku are over Obi-Wan and then in the next shot, they are about 30 feet away from him. I want to hurt someone for that, I mean I could have edited that fight scene and made it better.
