O.C, CA Lightsaber Training Class - Wednesday night and Sunday afternoon

Given the situation with Don and LU I believe it is safe to assume that this Sunday's class is cancelled unless stated otherwise here.

Greetings all!

As discussed at the class last night, I will be holding a "special weapon" (practice weapons that we use in the shinai class other than shinai or lightsabers) building class at my house. I'm looking tentatively at the 19th or 20thfor this. Please post here if you are interested and when/what day works for you. Also let me know what weapon you are interested in building so I can get you a list of materials to bring. PLEASE NOTE that I will provide the place and my expertise, I WILL NOT provide materials, nor will I make your weapon for you! The point of this is to show others how to make these weapons so that y'all can continue to enjoy them after I leave.

Weapon possibilities:

2 plank "rapier" styles (1 or 2 handed)

Polearms/single blade spear

Double bladed spear or shinai (Darth Maul or Grevious bodyguard)

Maces/mauls (blunt club type with foam head)

Great swords (larger/heavier 2 handed swords)

Shortswords and daggers

Or come up with an idea of your own!

Please let me know what y'all want!

Don is planning to try and make it to class on Sunday, at least for a bit. Keep an eye out here for more details.

 

I will try to be there unless things change. I will post here if this happens.

 

There will not be a class this Sunday unless Smudge wants to have one. I will be in San Diego checking on Lu and doing some paperwork. Class may resume next week. I will post more on that later.

 

Slight change of plans, Don will make it down to the park today by 4 if anyone can make it.

 

I moght be able to do it by 430 or 500, but dont hold my breath on it just yet...

Thanks to Lori and Smudge who were able to make the class. We did a 3 for all for about an hour and a half.

I will post later on if we will have a class next Sunday.

 

Hey, will you guys be able to put on some sort of show for Galactic Playground in October? I want you have plenty of notice, as that will be a great way to draw people to the club/class.

Also, if you're coming to the beach party this weekend, bring your sabers. Some of you will remember the saber battles on the beach as the sun set last time.

 

As I will be coming late, I will definately bring mine. Yes, we can set up something for this. I will talk to Erik and see if we can set up a line battle or something interesting. Don't forget we need to have dusk conditions in order to see sabers well.

I am thinking of renaming this class to the following:

ORANGE COUNTY SABER ACADEMY

The logo for this would be:

An image of an orange including leaf at the top.

A yin-yang symbol inside the orange in light and dark orange.

Crossed lightsabers - red and green in front of the orange.

circling the the orange would be at the top:

ORANGE COUNTY

and circling at the bottom:

SABER ACADEMY

So what do you all think?

Please note that I did not use the word LIGHTSABER, because of 2 reasons. It's copyrighted and this class is also involves the use of other weapons.

We do close range melee weapons.

Is "beam saber" copyrighted? (Its from Anime gundam universe, practically the same weapon)

I am against the use of the word "academy," but our name should definitely tie into starwars some how.

Sorry, I thought "class" was both sundays, and wednesday.

If you have you're own clique, sorry. I didn't think my suggestion would have a negative effect.

yes beam saber is copyrighted it is part of a tv seris vocabulary


the name don has picked out is perfect and reflects what WE ACTUALLY DO! like he has said before and many other people have said we are a SABER CLASS FIRST and Foremost we do use other weapons some of the time but the main perpose is to use a saber thats why i joined up and kept coming

I've only heard it on gundam. I can't remember a single american series that used it.
