Lightsabers and their Meaning.

With all of the different sabers that have appeared throughout the saga I must ask, what is their meaning?

What do the colors mean or represent?

What different types are there?

Is one saber more powerful than another?

Which saber do you, the reader, like best?

For the latter question I'll say Count Dookoo's.

 

BTW, when were lightsabers first used in the Star Wars universe and by whom?

 

In the movies the colors mean which side of the force you are on.
Blue, Purple and Green is Light
Red is Dark
No one lightsaber is stronger than another.

 

Actually, Sith lightsabers are more powerful than Jedi lightsabers, because of the synthetic crystals that are used to emit the blade, and although it is rare, a Sith 'saber has the potential to "break" or short circuit a Jedi blade.

Lightsabers were first used when the Jedi order began, millenia ago, and they were very crude...the crystal was usually exposed, and the hilts were made from earthen materials and crude metals
