Lightsabers

    Some sabers have a pressure pad where you hold it. You turn it on via a switch but it only stays on as long as there is pressure on it. That way you don't need to keep holding the switch down but you must keep hold of the saber. This means that the Jedi in question can't throw his saber.

    And Obi-Wan did turn on his lightsaber via the Force at the end of the duel in TPM, too.

    Yeah, anyone can activate a saber. Only a Jedi can build one. That is why building a lightsaber is the ultimate test for Jedi Padawans.
