Saga Lillith's musings...Dear Padme'

This a fictional piece I wrote when I found myself sitting around wondering what Anakin would say if he was to write Padme' a letter after her death...in an attempt to come to grips with his loss ... It is sad, I know but necessary for some in the "real" world. Please post a reply and let me know what you think, thank you all. Lillith

Dear Padme',
You were my love,
my life, beloved.
I only wished to save you.
Once there was the dream of love returned,
of us, now dark with the unknown,
I knew not how to hold fast, to keep you.
You, my "angel", were my light
in the pressing darkness of war
always accepting, nurturing,
fulfilling me like only you could.
With you I was ever not only the
Jedi knight but, also the man I
knew I could be, not only strong,
but confident knowing you would be there
upon every return...brief furlough,
from the fight. That I could look forward
to holding you in my weary arms
ready to reassure my aching heart
with your words of love and devotion
your embrace as tight as my own,
locked in the moment not wanting
to let go...
But, now the terrible truth comes
rushing back to me, the loss
almost beyond words...
You, my lovely wife, now lost to me
the result of my hunger for power
and misplaced faith...please forgive me.
I cannot bear the thought that
I may not know you on the other side.
May not have the chance to make
you understand...I only wanted
to save you, but, I believed a lie
and now that lie has replaced
the warrior with machine and my very
heart is slowly turning to stone as
I have lost all I ever loved and
have nothing left but,
my ruthless ambition...
When I am alone with
only my thoughts, the facade of
the conqueror put neatly away, the
man, just the man, remains in silent
vigil, wanting only to go back in time
to your ever waiting arms, to...us.
