Lit Literature Casting Call

Here's an interesting question:

If they were going to make a live action TV series based off, say, The New Jedi Order or Legacy of the Force, do you think the original actors would be able to reprise their old roles? Mark Hamill as an aged Jedi Master Luke Skywalker? Carrie Fisher as Leia Organa Solo, mother of three teenagers? Harrison Ford as Han Solo, old man acting like he's still young? Heck, could we still bring in Shannon McRandle as Mara Jade Skywalker?

I think Ford and McRandle would be good in their roles (but then again, I'm not sure what kind of live actress McRandle would be since I believe she's more a model than anything else), but I'm not sure that Hamill and Fisher would have the athleticism to portray the active Jedi that Luke and Leia are, even in their older age. But I couldn't imagine anyone replacing them for the roles either.

 

I always though, Sam Neill (Jurassic Park) for a wise older Luke. He looks like him too. I'd just as soon have Mark shape up for it.

Harrison Ford should be the same.

Carrie, looks.... horrible for her age. She's not that old, but has let herself go badly. Not that I don't love Carrie. I'd say Annabelle Sciorra, or Barbara Hershey.

I cannot for the life of me come up with an Anakin. It's really hard to find a black haired blue eyed, cleft chin actor that age. The only one is Jack Rovello.

I'm finally reading the Republic Commando books, and I can't stop picturing Michael Ironsides as Waylon Vau. I think he'd be pretty perfect.

 

I still like Shannon McRandle for Mara appearance-wise (for obvious reasons) but Claudia Black for voice and personality. Though I wonder what Claudia would look like as a redhead...

Summer Glau as Tahiri Veila FTW!

I know it would be weird having her as a blonde, but I'm thinking that she would be the best at playing the post-Vongformed wreck-of-a-woman Tahiri was post-Star by Star (and again post-Invincible).

 

Incidentally both also really like going barefoot.

I don't know if I can really see a blonde Summer Glau working out, though.

 

She looks sort of asian.

I always pictured Tahiri something like this girl but with sort of wavy shorter unkepmt hair:

I think i actually found the perfect Tahiri. i have always pictured her this way, based on her "young" pics. The model is a green eyed blonde that's pretty, yet, there's a mistrustfulness in her eyes and I like her tousled hair and intense looks:

I don't a bout Casper, he has the wimpiest voice, But i think he's handsome. He's not "serious" enough. i don't know, it might be a Brit actor, I do like Sam Neill (Jurassic Park), but he's also really old now.

I think the two I mentioned for Leia, I think both could pull her off, and look the same esp when smiling. Bright smiles. Sad how Carrie has let herself go. She's only 46, 47... Compare that to Halle Berry (she's 45) and Marcia Cross, who's 47.

Guys, who'd you cast for Celeste Morne from Vector? I've been thinking over and over again and can't find the perfect person.

 

I think that chick from Underworld: Rise of the Lycans (sorry I don't know her name), would be a good Celeste Morne. She's not too old, and not too young...the perfect fit for someone who is supposed to be a few thousand years old!

 

Rhona Mitra is her name.

 

I'm a rabid Underworld fangirl myself so yeah, that would make sense. Mind you a friend and I always thought that Rhona would make a good Sia. Although she does have a tough demeanor about her that is more Celeste than Sia now that I think about it...

I've currently been reading the Hand of Thrawn Duology and I'v pictured Major Tierce, the former Royal Gaurdsmen and tactical genius of the books, as Jason Issacs. You know the bad guy in the Patriot, or Lucias Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies. I think all around he'd be a great Star Wars villian.

Well, since it'll sadly never happen....

I really just am casting in my mind's eye. What the people look like. Too bad I don't have the artistic skill to paint my versions.

In my versions, Han looks like Harrison Ford. Luke looks like Mark, from ANH, but lean, muscular and ripped. And gray and crow's feet. Still boyish smile, bright blue eyes. Leia looks like Carrie SHOULD look, if she never did drugs and had all these struggles. Leia looks like she did when she was young except no chubby cheeks from being a so young, and has crow's feet and a husky voice, but definitely not the "hag" voice she has in real life.

Jacen to me really does like that guy. He's supposed to look like Han, and that kid looks like a Young Harrison. Jaina in my mind looks like Rachel Leigh Cooke, but has the upturned smile of a Skywalker, with straight teeth. Sort of a Jordana Brewster smile. Smart ass. About 5'5", petite, but with enormous eyes that look right through you. And Anakin looks like the concept drawing of him. I imagine he looks a bit like Luke in some way, but has stronger sharper reguler features, like chiseled jawline and long black eye lashes. His hair is black, but he doesn't have the soft face of Anakin Skywalker. Like his Japanese NJO covers.

Mara to me looks like the description of her. She's not too curvy, but slim and athletic, with pale strawberry blonde hair and green eyes, and spray of freckles. A slightly Demi More voice. A little rasp.

Tahiri is like that blonde in the picture I pointed out. She's cute but not spectacular. Kind of suspicious, and closed off.

Jag looks like a Simon Rex, but leaner, meaner and a completely different personality.

Ben IMO from the covers and the few pictures we've seen, looks like Anakin Skywalker and has his features, esp his blue eyes and full mouth. I think of him as being a auburn haired kid whose hair is deep red in sun light, but looks brown in the dark. Eyes dark blue like Matthew McConaughey.

 

Actually Maggie Gyllenhaal is a near dead ringer for Leia, I noted this while watching Dark Knight last year. If Lucasfilm ever intends to carry on with some more movies around the characters (and they frankly would be stupid financially not to) she should be topping the short list.

Actually came on this sight tangentially regarding Waylon Vau & Kal Skirata. They mentioned using Michael Ironsides and Ed Harris for those characters - I think they would be great matches, though they'd need to move on making such a movie fairly soon as both of them will be out of season to play the parts within a decade.
