Lit Literature Casting Call

We often talk about look-alikes, but what about sound-alikes?

Some people genuinely read differently than others, so not everyone does this, but I'm of the camp that tries to picture and hear everything they read. It's obviously easiest for movie characters, but EU characters are harder.

One voice I use a lot is Malcom McDowell. He is simultaneously Master Tholme in the Republic comics and Kenth Hamner in Fate of the Jedi.

Another is Jason Momoa (who is best known for the role of Ronon Dex in Stargate: Atlantis). To me, he's the voice of Quinlan Vos, Darth Bane, and Jariah Syn.

In the Darth Bane books (especially Path of Destruction), I had a number of voices for the various Sith. Most notably, I pictured Qordis as having the same voice as The G-Man from the Half-Life games.

What's rather hilarious now though is that I can't for the life of me hear Hayden Christensen during Anakin's dialogue. Every time Anakin speaks, it's Matt Lanter now.

 

Whenever I read Kit Fisto I hear him with a Mediterranean accent. But I'm a huge fan of the Clone Wars.

I really can't believe I'm even posting on this site, as I have given up on Star Wars ever since Lucas decided to eat a blaster and put some retarded alien replicate in his place, but I found this while looking up pics for characters for my buddies Star Wars game, and had to throw my two credits in. Out of the original big three, the only one who looks like they're character would is Hamill. Ford looks like he's had a stroke, a Fischer... well... I guess she ended up with Jake Blues and couples do tend to resemble each other after a while. But I've seen alot of picks on here that quite frankly... well, I'm starting to wonder if some folks understand that your casting a character, and not a face or a voice. Hugo Weaving should NOT be Thrawn, please, stop casting him in every bloody thing. My personal pick is Ralph Fiennes. Really think about it. The cheerleader from Heroes should not be cast as anyone but a Twi'lek dancing girl, and should be kept in the background. Lacey Chabert is very nice to look at. She ain't Jaina. She shouldn't be cast in that role. Neither is Kristen Stewart (or any damn body thats tied to the Twilight franchise *shudder*), Miley Cyrus (christonacracker are you guys serious?) or any other pop icon. Period. Think outside mainstream. You need to get someone who can be plain and beautiful at the same time. Someone who is gorgeous in a dress, but still looks damn good covered in engine grease. And without a high voice (afforementioned Chabert)Also, depends on what time frame your going to do it in. As I personally consider the end of Star Wars continuity to be the end of the Vong War (yes I've read past it, and it gets insipid and just plain stupid, kinda like all the prequal garbage)your gonna be hard pressed to find folks to fit certain characters out of mainstream media. I saw one list that looked like the dude just went through IMDB putting in random names of the most famous people he could find, seeing pics, and haphazardly matching them to characters, not even considering the characters themselves. Not everyone can pull a Heath Ledger/Joker and just because a chick is hot, or a dude is studly, does not a Skywalker/Solo (No.Gorram.Nabbieres)make. Remember, this movie is what put several of these actors on the map. And some people still have a hope of a new Star Wars movie that doesn't suck balls someday. I saw Jedi invitro, and it was big part of my life (I was one of the original over the top fanboys) until the Fall. My handle I picked up playing X-Wing Alliance on the MSN Gaming Zone. I've had a lot of time to consider most of these choices. Please, think long and hard about a casting choice, and make it a good one.

 

Someone seems cranky...hooray for unknown actors! And we all know that the extremely talented Ralph Fiennes can pull off anything. Same goes for Bill Nighy.

 

I really think Logan Huffman would make an awesome Anakin Solo ^_^

So, I've recently been watching a lot of Kings -- an awesome (albeit cancelled) show about the rise of King David in an a modern parallel reality -- and Ian McShane, as King Silas (Saul), shows that he could very well do Roan Fel.

 

To go back to sound-alikes, Clint Eastwood is Krayt.

Those are some of the best choices I've seen in this thread. Espically Stephanie Romanov, Anna Torv, N.P.H., and Vincent Kartheiser. I've always thought Donn was like pre-mind alteration Connor.

 

I'd like to say, Jeff Bridges as Talon Karrde How can no one else have thought of that?!

 

Jack Nicholson as Rav from Legacy. I read through issues 1-50 last week, and for some reason I just associated Rav with Nicholson.
