The Ingalls family probably would have survived if only Charles hadn't built their log cabin over the site of an old Indian burial ground.

Just pick from similar shows as I used the Waltons to demonstrate their comparable tedium.

Don't lie... you know you sport the Nellie Olsen curles when you're feeling pretty.

Any calamity that has ever befallen a human being in all of history found a way to strike the unfortunate Ingalls family. If I was Charles Ingalls, I'd come out of the page of the script and snap the show writer's neck as he was typing it. But through it all, Charles always had his signature goofy smile at the end of each episode:

I have a friend from college who was into that show; I have no idea why. But we were at least able to make a few jokes about Carolyn having no backbone whatsoever (Laura: "Can I braid my hair now or do I have to wait until later?" Carolyn: "Go ask your Pa") and Charles getting hurt all the time. Dude got run over by a 900-pound rock of some sort in one episode.

The show was better than the books, but that isn't saying much.

I read recently that Rose Wilder Lane was pretty much bat**** crazy; she hid herself in a basement with a bunch of food for awhile, saying that she'd re-emerge when FDR lost an election.

Now why can't we see a TV series about that?

My favourite episode is the one where the grandma pretended she was dead so she could see who came to her funeral.

I think I saw an episode where this teenage boy was sick and he climbed a hill or a mountain as one of his last wishes. Depressing stuff.

Skywalker8921 Thank you for starting a thread about this wonderful show.

One of my favorites is "I'll be Waving as you Drive Away". I also like "A Harvest of Friends" and "Country Girls", just to name a couple more. I didn't like "If I Should Wake Before I Die". I thought it was ridiculous.

    :)

Mmm, read some of the books as a kid (don't remember what happened in them anymore, lol) but never watched the show.

I finished a marathon a few years ago. I thought the show was okay for a 80's family show.

It was more a 70s show that stayed aruond a bit too long. I watched it the first few seasons (4th and 5th grade) but grew out of it pretty quickly. I was more a Michael Landon fan from his Bonanza Little Joe days.

Anyway, some great bits from my generation's "America#s Sweetheart", Melissa Gilbert from US magazine:

I used to watch "Little House" all the time as a kid, but eventually gave up in my teens. I tried reading one of Laura Ingalls' books, but it was overkill for me.

Someone needs to make that thread. I'd school you all in Waltons trivia. I watch it every time I visit my nan.
