With the backstory of the PT we now know he once thought the power of the dark side was enough to stop death. He has finally accepted the truth and as such attains true immortality.

Oh wow, I don't agree with this at all. I mean...its a good catch actually, I didn't think of this. But I don't this is the case. The reason is that I think the Jedi realize that they were wrong. I mean the only two that are left, Obi-Wan and Yoda. It was their hard and rigid belief structure that caused the problem.

Remember this. Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon talking about why Qui-Gon is not on the Jedi counsel. Because Qui-Gon doesn't quite believe in the way the Counsel does things. Then understand that in the end. All that are left are Obi and Yoda and as we leave ROTS it is them who are now learning the true nature of the force from Qui-Gon.

I now think that things are going to be very different with the Jedi. Luke learns the new ways from Yoda, Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon.

I thought that was a reference to the fact that Obi-Wan always seems to beat the odds and escape death.
