    You know. Live 8 - Live Aid II. July 2 2005.

    Brilliant UK lineup, dodgy US lineup (just like in '84!)

    Pink Floyd reforming with Roger Waters.

    More here;

    If anyone hears if NZ TV are gonna show this live, please post the info here. I'm sure TV2 will want it to stop C4 from getting it, but I haven't heard anything yet...

    We can always watch it on aol music if we dont get it... the lag will be massive though...

    Pink Floyd are my favourite band ever... lets hope David and Roger spark an old flame and decide to do a world tour...

    My dad saw them last time they came to NZ I find that incrediblly unfair, although I was not born at the time :p

    Don't suppose PF played 9 months before your birthday...

    Anyway, I've sent some emails around. Even though Channel 9 have it in Australia, Prime aren't interested in NZ. C4 are "trying to get it" and TVNZ sent back an automated response saying they'll try and answer my question within 7 days.

    So with C4 "trying", I'd imagine it will be down to a bidding war between CanWest & TVNZ. Hopefully Sky are out of the picture. And I'm also assuming that having C4 trying means one of the networks will indeed carry it...

    So, anyway. A real person from TVNZ replied to me and told me they will be screening it and that the TV Guide will have details. I hope like hell they don't delay the broadcast and / or put ads all through the performances.

    Still, it's bound to get a speedy DVD release I'd wager.

    From the NZ Herald:

    Kiwis won't miss out on the world's biggest pop concert next week - as long as you don't mind staying up for the privilege.

    TV2 will carry a live broadcast of Live8, Bob Geldof and Bono's international music event next Sunday from 2am until 12pm.

    Performing from various venues around the world will be U2, Coldplay, Mariah Carey, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Madonna, Will Smith, Bon Jovi, Stevie Wonder, Maroon 5, Andrea Bocelli, Duran Duran, P Diddy, Stereophonics and more. 50 Cent pulled out of the Philadelphia concert due to scheduling conflicts but Destiny's Child and Linkin Park signed on.

    The aim is to raise awareness about global poverty and to pressure the Group of Eight leaders meeting in Scotland on July 6-8.

    Twenty years after his original Live Aid shows, Geldof co-ordinated five main concerts - four in Europe and one in Philadelphia - but last week added gigs in Tokyo, Toronto and Johannesburg. Geldof said he hoped Nelson Mandela would be well enough to "bring it to the world".

    Live 8 will be televised live from London's Hyde Park, the Circus Maximus in Rome, beneath the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Pottsdamer Platz in Berlin and from the steps of the Museum of Art in Philadelphia. More than a billion people around the world are expected to see the event.
