Did Tarkin survive the Death star explosion? Was there any chance he escaped it?

What about Conan Antonio motti? Was he on it when it exploded?

Your answer ends here for some reason. Can you please embellish about what you were going to say? Thanks

The only thing that really stood out to me when I rewatched the films recently was at the very start of ANH :

"Don't shoot! There are no life forms aboard."

    Sooooooo???
1/You're living in a galaxy filled with droids. You should know better.
2/ You're looking for PLANS, which could have been hidden aboard this pod, droids or not... If you don't want to destroy the plans and get them back safely, at least send a team out to search the pod when it lands.
3/ Since when is it such a bother to fire a couple of extra laser bolts at a pod, just to make sure? It's not like the Empire seemed on a budget when it came to firing at every single other thing in the course of the three films...

It's like this officer absolutely wants to save this pod. Rebel spy? I'm sure the EU came up with something at some point.

Not to mention that when the stormtroopers finally surround the droids, one or two quick lines from C3P0, and the two walk right past the troopers and out the door.

Vader should've dented his mask with that face-palm!

Interesting thread. There really aren't many logical flaws in the original trilogy compared to the prequels, that's for sure, and some of the points mentioned have already been refuted (the scanning crew, for example).

Didn't see the following mentioned, so here goes:

    * Luke's "plan" to rescue Han Solo from the clutches of Jabba the Hutt. Doesn't really make sense, does it. Especially without any "supporting" material/explanations.
    * In The Empire Strikes Back we have Han Solo saying "See you in hell". This really bugs me as the concept of "hell" as invented by guys in robes in the middle-east really shouldn't be in Star Wars. I usually tell myself its a translation error.
    * See-Threepio knows and unknows Princess Leia in the first half of the original Star Wars. "There'll be no escape for the princess this time" vs. "Some person of importance, I believe".

on Threepio: Threepio bends the truth when talking to Luke?

on Han: The EU suggested that Corellian mythology has "hells"
