    [face_blush]

Signs - perhaps I expect every Shyamalan film to be one of twists and intelligent plot and pacing. Not saying anymore cos of spoilers. ;)

Why? With the exception of the Sixth Sense he has done nothing remarkable so far, it's not like he's Hitchcock or something.

Well. I thought Unbreakable was better than average - one of my personal faves, even if it is a little slow in parts. Signs was the worst of the three IMO.

    rrright,moyelsey! LV!
    outside now!!!
    unbreakable is a classic film...
it radiates class from beginning to end...
the style, the pacing, the superb acting from the leads...
the direction, the music, the editing, the stunning (subtle) production design...
how do you not sob uncontrollably at the final scene with david and his son as he confirms his sons beliefs over breakfast
i deny you your opinion on this one.
    DENIED!
    ;)

Superman the Movie - Quite enjoyable, Donner also gave us The Omen, the Lethal Weapon series and Assasins.

War of the Worlds - One of my favourite SF movies (along with Robinson Crusoe on Mars which Haskin also directed).

Those two movies are good, I'll grant you that but personally I thought Unbreakable was poor. In the end it all comes down to personal taste I suppose.

However, personal taste or not, you can't take anything away from Hitchcock, if not the finest, certainly the most influential director of all time.

What has happened to this thread? It scrolls all across the page....................

Personally I think Hitchcock is one of the finest directors ever. I've really not seen enough of his films, although those that I have certainly left their mark.

And I love the way that he always does a cameo in his films. It is almost half the fun watching to see where he'll appear.

The best Hitchcock? Well, difficult to say as I haven't seen all of his work. At the moment though, I'd say Rope. Absolutely superb and ingenious the way it is shot in one "continuous" take. Very original.
