I asked at JB-HIFI and they said that the 5-disc edition was sold out..

I'll probably get the 4-disc set though...

Well, now I am confused! :)

Yes, there is an extended version out there for $60 odd dollars.

Then, I thought that the super duper edition, for $130 odd dollars was meant to be FIVE discs... how come the picture I saw, it had four discs?

You basically get the four disk version plus the bookends and National Geo doco. So the DVDs are in that green box inside the packaging just like the 4 disk regular version.

    Yup!

    Four disk version

    Five disk set

You'll notice that EzyDVD are using the same picture for the disks themselves, but read the texts on what's on each disk.

Oh dear! I just heard a rumour on Usenet that said K-Mart are going to have the price of the 5 disk set at $139 tomorrow!

WTF is going on there? NOT HAPPY!!!!

I guess it'll still be cheaper than anywhere else though.

If K-Mart jack the price of the 5-disc set for a sale, then that constitutes price fixing and is an illegal practice as far as the ACCC is concerned. Get proof and make a complaint - I'm sure they'll be interested. Whether they actually do something is another matter.

Not really. It depends on the cost they buy it for and their markup. I used to work for Big W, their markup was only 5% or so. I can't obviously display unit costs for stock here, due to my current job, but if K Mart are selling it for that price, they're still selling it at a legal price.

$139? No, ignore that. That was the price KMart had in their catalogue, but the price they were selling it at was $118.

Chances are this person on the usenet probably saw the catalogue and expected that to be the sale price.

Pay it no mind. You wont pay more than $118.

I got it from Kmart for $118, so have no fear, thats the price you'll pay.

Yeah, was a relief for sure. And I was going to complain anyway cause I found a copy with $118 on the box. So I was getting it or the $100.30 whatever happened!

The person on Usenet said that the person behind the desk told them it was going up for the catalogue. But that starts on Saturday if I'm correct.

I HAVE IT!!! :D As of yesterday morning, I am the proud owner of the 4 disc LoTR-EE and AOTC. Fantastic. :D

It's awesome. And I haven't even gotten stuck into the apendicies yet.

Picked up the Collector's Edition today. Got home, stuck the first disc in, only to discover that it had a rather large black mark on the surface, that looked suspiciously like the surface of the disc had worn away.

I took it back immediately to get a refund and a new copy.

My new copy works fine. Thankfully. :D

I'll have a look at the appendicies today, but I think I'll have to wait until tomorrow night to watch the movie. But it's a great release with the bookends and the bar has been lifted once again.

God knows what Lucas will now have to do to out-do this.

5 disc set was mine for 118 minus 15% discount. I'm relatively happy I must say.

Esp as I also got princess bride, j&sbsb 2 disc, and robocop as well :)

wedge, I agree. This has to be one of the best Collector's Editions available. The TTT and ROTK collector's editions will certainly be something to look out for.

Kmart does NOT put there prices up for a catalogue.

That is just plain stupid retail logic, plus illegal.
