It's called money, grosses, etc. which seems to have become a trend lately.

LOTR was all written as one book. It was only split up for the dolla dolla bills ya'll. But yeah, Tolkien wrote it all as one book.

    It's one book.

It's six books. It's one novel. But he called them "Book One" "Book Two" "Book Three" etc.

    Six books.

it's nine novels, divided into three books each, all bound into one volume using rubber bands and staples and boogers. if you don't have this version, then you are reading a fake. there are so many forgeries out there it is just unbelievable.

That's special edition of the book, and I don't think it's in print here in the states.

what are you talking about there's just one book.

that's how he wanted it to be. just because publishers broke it up doesn't mean that was his vision.

just like star wars was all one story until gl broke it up into six pieces because of the studios.

    duh.

Book I: The Ring Sets Out
Book II: The Ring Goes South
Book III: The Treason of Isengard
Book IV: The boRing Goes East
Book V: The War of the Ring
Book VI: The Return of the King

    six books

that's like saying Star Wars is actually six films instead of being one saga. just admit it, aso. you are wrong.

(also I prefer Return of the Shadow for Book I and The End of the Third Age for Book VI and I don't think Book IV is boring at all what are you talking about that is the thematic heart of the novel right there)

No, I would agree that LOTR is one saga, but it is six books that form one saga. And also that Star Wars is six films that form one saga. So that is not a good analogy at all, really.

Actually, LOTR is a single book that was split into three films.

    Thanks, Mar.

My only point all along was that each of the three volumes of LOTR is split into two books, but was only made into one movie. Whereas The Hobbit is one book, one volume, and one novel, and is being made into two movies.

This worked 8 years ago when I started it - mostly due to the comedy from those who didn't 'get' it.

    Your thread; not so much.
