YET ANOTHER newspaper has got a huge LOTR thingy.

The Sunday Star Times (Auckland only perhaps?) has a special edition magazine on LOTR.

    VERY COOL

yeah, the Sunday Star Times mag is cool, better than the New Zealand Herald one me thinks.

But they implied that Lord of the rings fans dress up more than Star Wars fans. Possibly true, I don't know. Can't say I've ever dressed up in a Star Wars costume :D

Is the SST only Auckland? If it is, I'd be happy to send the thing to someone once I've finished reading it.

    Have a look here.

Anyone see Pete on 60 minutes last night? It was a pretty good interview, a bit of his history and what he's doing now.

New Zealand home of Middle Earth.

Will tourists actually come here primarily to see the locations LOTR was filmed.

The NZ Tourist board seems to think so, this site / documentary / advertorial is damn impressive!

Great to see the premiere on the news. Elijah Wood was looking happy. I didn't realize he was only twenty, I thought he was about 25-26. Wow, he's the same age as me and he's already a big-time actor. Same with Natalie Portman actually.

Good to see Christopher Lee as well - can't wait to see him in Ep 2.

Good review by Scott Chitwood. Of all the reviews I've read so far, no one's mentioned a third of the movie being in Elvish subtitles, :D so I think that wasn't true.

Quite a few have mentioned the running time though - you know, it wouldn't be so bad if they'd bring back that good old fashioned intermission. I was losing the circulation in my legs in Harry Potter, and that was only 2 and a half.

    <gasp>

    BLASPHEMY!!!

how dare you say that vile name in this thread! ... again i see it

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooooo

The thing is - we have heard a few people say its 1/3 Elvish with sub's - but like i have said:

"in fellowship Elves arent in it for a full 1/3"

and what has also just hit me

think to the multiple screenings of the adds on TV.

Elrond says: "You shall be the fellowship of the ring" (or is that in a trailer) anyway - hes an Elf - and he speaks in english! whats the deal with THAT?!

EDIT = I'm sowwy - I corrupted the thread - all better now! (i hope)

    > how dare you say that vile name in this thread!

    Which "vile name" is that??

    "HP" or "Intermission"? :)

Now ... it looks like LotR is also going to beat Episode I at the box office, so the obvious thing to do is for everyone to boycott going to see that movie too - I know you'll ALL be behind me on this (and don't buy the badly-made toys either)!

Reading that, I can tell I'm going to like the movie much better than the book. Sounds like they've expanded out Saurons roll . . . he was only seen through his minions in the book. And they've beefed up the Arwen/Aragorn romance . . . ahh romance :D
