    Winter still lingers.

    Not outside but inside.

    I feel the uncertainty and the perils of the times pressing in on me.

    Faramir, the Steward, is also convalescing.

    His courtesy to me I know is sincere, but I tell him frankly that I am not well-schooled in the gentler ways of women.

    His eyes smile at me and he tells me he would have me in no way other than I am.

    So, we share conversations and the load is lightened for each of us.

    Victory! We do not have all the details of yet, but the literal air is not oppressive, heavy and smothering. Even the sunlight seems to be brighter, warmer!

    My heart is lighter than it has been in weeks or months!

    Faramir and I speak of many things during our daily stroll but our sense of things having finally, inexplicably been put to rights permeates each word we speak, each long glance.

    I tell him I no longer wish to be Queen, which astonishingly is true. When this remarkable change occurred, or how, I know not.

    I just know that my restless heart no longer craves to be unbound and has come to know a quiet peace.

    The last line was perfect, and it made the whole piece for me. [face_love] I think that is the great arch of Eowyn's character - from restlessness to contentment, and you have certainly showed that here. Thank-you so much for sharing her journey through your words. =D=

    Now, subsequent ficlets/tales about her and Faramir, or anything in the Fourth Age would just be icing on the cake, if your muse has the inkling. [face_batting];) [:D]

    Agree that the last line definitely brings about a peaceful and yet honest resolution to Eowyn as she starts to take in the comforts of Faramir.
