Pittsburgh, PA LOTR conert planning thread

Jedigirl actually started a Howard Shore thread, and if she would be interested in planning a SWAP outing to this I will cheerfully hand over this project back over to her . . . (hopefully she won't think I'm trying to hijack it from here, its just that I had originally hoped when I saw the ad for this to be able to get enough of us together to get a group rate, but already folks have bought tickets and for diffent nights . . . )

Anyway, we would need to get together a group of 10 for this to be able to even think of getting a discount. I'm not sure we could do that, but lets give it a shot. We could also contact the nearby fanforces and see if they would be interested (but if we do that, it would have to be for the Saturday performance to give them drive time.)

Hmmmm, I'm rambling. Sorry. Okay, first things first.

If you are interested, answer the following questions.


1. Are you interested in going and have not already bought tickets?

2. Which night, Friday July 30 or Saturday July 31?

3. Are the 'cheap seats' okay? (where we sat for John Williams)

 

memememememe oh... and stacie too. we don't care when cheap seats are better in my opinion.....but we will both go whenever!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

well, like i said, Gemma already bought my ticket...i know we are sitting on the main floor, AA, i believe, not that that really helps...

but whatever other planning i can help with, i'd be happy to. (also,i might, be willing to go both days, just because i have no life!)

FYI, some of the people who helped organize Trilogy Tuesday are going on Friday, and are sitting in the center "dress circle" area.

This sounds crazy, but I'd love to sing in it. I was hoping the Mendelssohn Choir would be doing it because Shieldmaiden from the line party is in it, but she hasn't heard anything.

I don't know if it's possible to just blow in long enough to rehearse and sing for one weekend or not, but I'm trying to find out! It's bold, I know. I'm confident of my abilities, I just don't have the connections!

How does this sound?

We go to the concert on Saturday, July 31st. Those of us who have not yet bought tickets order them all at once (as soon as we get a final count, I am willing to do the purchase with the understanding I get paid back). We also invite area folks who might not get Mr. Shore in their neighborhood to come to the concert with us (and maybe out to dinner before the concert).

Do I have a yea or a nay on this plan??

How much are the tickets?

 

It depends the cheapest are $19.50 then they go up , , $29.50, $43.50, and $80. Plus $80 TICKETS INCLUDE POST-CONCERT RECEPTION WITH HOWARD SHORE!

 

Which tickets are we going with? I need to know since I am gonna be strapped for cash this week.

 

FYI, the $80 tickets are gone for both nights.

 

i definately wanna sit in the cheap seats because i actually like it better....can't explain why i think it's some kind of acoustic preference actually...

 

Well I got 3 $43.50 seats for the 30th. It's going to be so awesome!!!!!!

 

I'm bringing this back to the surface because I have exciting news!!!

I WILL be singing with the Mendelssohn Choir for this concert series!! Woo hoo!

I was screaming and shouting so loud when I found out, the neighbor's dog started barking!

It pays to do crazy things sometimes, like beg a choir who's never heard of me to let me sing with them for a single symphony.

From what I was told, there is now a performance scheduled for the 29th and a tentative one for Aug. 1

Okay folks, slight change of plan. As Bonnie mentioned, the third performance will be on Thursday July 29 at 7:30. This may change some plans for people since we had originally wanted to go on Saturday.


Therefore, if you are still able to go, I need you to reconfirm with me by THURSDAY April 15.
