    Ah C'mon!!

Ronin, with De Niro, Sean Bean plays a Pom who supposedly was with the SAS

"Whats the colour of the boat house at Hereford?"

    Now I sound strange

But it was on Optus for 2 months solid, it gets stuck in the brain.

    That was a quality film.

It would have to feature cinema's greatest car chase :)

    Ronin is a great film.

Finally, I have seen it. And before I give my analysis I have to say that it was bloody unreal. (Can I say bloody?)

Anyway, I felt that perhaps the greatest fault of the movie was that the elven men looked like pansies. I know elves are supposed to be beautiful and enchanting, etc... but I mean, "chiseled features" everybody. Cate does not have chiseled features. Actually, it was mostly Legolas that impressed me the least, which is really disappointing since he was perhaps my favourite character of the whole LotR books.

And the opening (with the re-telling) felt out of place to me.

    BOOK/POSSIBLE MOVIE 2 SPOILER

And, although it has been a while since I read the books, I don't recall reading about Gandalf facing off against Saruman that early in the story. IIRC, it took place in book 2 (TTT), while the hobbits met the Ents (treemen).

    END OF SPOILERS

On the other hand I didn't mind that the introduction of Merry and Pippin was different, and although Tom was left out, I thought it was well done the way that Strider gave shortswords to the hobbits.

But the giving of the cloaks, Legolas/Gimli friendship, etc being missing - and the Galadriel scene were a little disappointing.

Still, if you haven't read the books, then it would be a fantastic movie. And if you have, then it's still a fantastic movie, just a little different. And it really shows up Harry Potter as book-to-movie conversion that actually works!

The spoiler incident above DID occur in "Fellowship", but it was related by Gandalf at the Council of Elrond, as a "what I've been up to" kind of thing. And there was no Wiz-Fu.

Just went and saw it again on new years day, and this time was able to really perceive some things that really changed the way I saw the whole film.

I don't know if anyone spotted this, given the brief period of the scene and the other things occuring in the foreground. It occurred when we first meet Arwen, look in the background and you'll spot the three of them <minor spoiler ahead>

The three trolls that bilbo and the dwarves met in The Hobbit. They became stone when they were hit by the sun's rays when they couldn't decide how to cook twelve dwarves and a hobbit. This was the story that Bilbo told at the Party

I noticed that on my first (and only so far) viewing. Are there any other easter eggs I should be looking out for?

Sorry man, guess I was just asleep when I took a few of them

Still getting a natural pic of either Slavey of Shara is akin to climbing Mt Everest.

The pic I took of Shara during the Wollongong meet has to be a classic no matter how you look at it

Just thought i'd put this here mainly for Gecko's benefit, I know she's a huge B5 fan, at least, I think I remember her mentioning that, if not, well I apologise in advance so as to avoid that whacking stick piggles always has at the ready

i saw lotr yesterday, and i LOVE it (as per usual)!!! mum didn't really like it tho, she's not a fantasy person. oh ya and there was a whole group of girls sitting right behind us - they screamed right through every single fight scene, which left me stumbling out of the cinema, with this strange screaming noise echoing in my ear...
