It's finally occurred to me that you've done a wonderful job of setting up a debate of philosophy within the temple, and Obi-Wan is the prize for winning the debate.

The intuition based Living Force, or the detached Being Force. The Force that guides your actions or obeys your commands. Calm and at peace or vital and in the moment.

I can see both sides of it.

    Not that I don't want to whack T?shar with a shovel. ;)

Yes, I'd definitly say she's a Vulcan! She even has a Vulcan name! T'Shar

The question is, how did she get into the Star Wars Universe? Send her back to Vulcan!

The question really is why did Obi-Wan believe her when she told him those things? Why such despair over mere words, words that he knew Qui-Gon would NOT agree with? There may be more than meets the eye.

    Great job. Keep going.

Just caught up what an engrossing and riveting
    story =D=

I think T'Shar is jealous of Obi and is
purposely trying to destroy his self worth.

I may be wrong but I hate her anyway

Yeah, she sounds like T'Pol or Science officer Spock.Yuck. I mean, c'mon, even Spock wouldn't have broken Obi-Wan's spirit like that. I hope he does sithing throttle her.

    Replies. :D

may...it is progress...of sorts, I guess. The road to recovery, as far as Obi's concerned, at any rate, is always a long one. :D . Personally, I think it's this way because of his character - he's one of those intense types that never give you an inkling that anything's wrong, and prefer to do it all themselves - until it's almost too late, and then they sort of...fly to pieces. Almost. I think Qui-Gon ironed out that tendency in him, over the years. :)

I liked 'inertia', myself - the word, I mean, not the feeling. I've also felt that sinking into the quagmire thing...you get down to such depths that it takes a mammoth effort to do even the simplest things.

Shaindl...Vulcan...?! Good grief, what have I created? (T'shar, I mean :p )...yes, she sounds pretty much an idiot. On the other hand, she's also the Archivist, which means she isn't completely brainless. :D . Thank you. If I've actually got you, 'fired up', then I've succeeded. [face_laugh] 'Off with her head', indeed, my croquet queen.

    :D

-Darksaber-...[bows in return] Thanks so much for delurking, and telling me that you're reading. Please delurk often/as much as you can/every time you log on...hee. :D

    LuvEwan...thanks :) - but...er...what part of it was strange??

Ah, Seven...you are most enthusiastic, my pada...er...um...reviewer. :D Thank you kindly. I'm glad you found it so much to your liking. If it wanted to make you comfort Obi so much... :D . We all feel that, don't we ?[sighs wistfully]. Wonder how much he'll relish an avalance of eager female fan(atics). :D

Now, go forth and review...when I've posted, ie. :D - and keep T'shar alive, so I can at least finish the fic. :)

JEDI-KNIGHTS_R_L...thanks. One more enthusiastic T'shar-killer, I see. :) . I wonder if Qui-Gon will get to Obi in time??? [turns speculative eye towards half-finished next post] Hmm...?

Neo-Paladin...a unique view-point, I agree. Though I imagine a debate like that would end up in everyone getting...remarkably confused. Jedi or not. Academics would have a great time quoting/re-quoting/re-re-requoting every scroll, datachip and tablet in existence, while the warriors will probably say 'gah, let's just get on with the job...' . I must say, I tend towards Qui-Gon's Living Force, which seems to lean more towards the original Jedi way. Which only makes me wonder about how exhausting he must have found each verbal battle with his peers and elders. Talk about inner strength.

But an interesting scene, nevertheless. A pity I've already nine-tenths visualised this thing...

Oh, T'shar needs more than a shovel. She wouldn't appreciate such a...lack of control, I think. :D

KSkywalker...it's a Vulcan name??? [looks at Shaindl] - and I gave her a name like without even knowing the origins. Gods, she probably exists, then. but I can't send her anywhere. She's stuck at Coruscant, at the moment - and er...I can't say more. :)

dianethx, you have a talent for hitting the nail on the head - which is why I always read your reviews with a kind of pleasurable anticipation - I never know what to expect. :D. Why indeed...?

    Thank you. :)

PadawanKitara... argh...is she really that...Vulcan-ish? [looks at previous chapters] Force, probably... :)

Gkilkenny...thank you very much. Glad you're enjoying the fic. :) Yes she's evil. She's a sith in disguise. :D

    -Darksaber-... Whoa.

Next post will be up...soon. It's...um...well. You'll know when you read it. :)

:D The greatest compliment any author could hope for. From you, no less!

I'll try to wrap the next post up within 24 hours - I'm still putting together the minor details. Thing is, I keep rushing up to the end parts while I'm not done with the 'middle' parts yet...sigh.

You do realise that I'm now a jittery mess about whether the ending will pass muster, don't you? :)

Whew! Well, I can tell that I've been off the boards long enough! I come back after a couple months of absence, and a bunch of new authors! Is this your first thread, or have I just been spacey all this time? I must say, I love this story! I really like the descriptions, the images I recieve while reading. Of course, character development is my fave, but a story is even better when my mind can picture the characters in a detailed setting.

The melodious sound of an even-bird reached them, from somewhere the room?the Royal gardens, probably. Twilight was falling after all, and Scaltia?s winged creatures were making their evening journey to their resting places. A faint, soft breeze wafted its way around the room?comforting in its presence, but still hot. Far too hot for this time of the evening, anyway.

    Lovely, just lovely.
I'm thinking, as I'm sure a lot of us are at this moment, "Where does Archivist T'shar get off??" She of all people should know that while she has her personal philosophies, that there are different paths that people must take, and that doesn't mean that any one is right or wrong. Honestly. My personal philosophy at this moment would be to give her a good firm smack! :D And lol Shaindl! Bloody Vulcans!

    *********

    VIII

Obi-Wan was surprised, when he and Qui-Gon had walked out of the chambers assigned to them, to find that the half-light that had pervaded the skies of Scalti almost an hour ago, still persisted. Surely twilight vanished early, as it did on Coruscant? But then, Coruscant's skies were hardly to be taken as a precise indicator of the time - Coruscant mornings often gave the impression of a city fairly reeling through hours of labour, and the nights looked like...a buzzing, never-at-a-stop day. Rather unsettling to new arrivals to the city-planet, but hardly worth a notice by its residents.

Obi-Wan himself had felt little appreciation for the planet's day and night cycle initially, but years of missions to many planets far more varied in their climatic conditions had swiftly ridden him of indifference in that respect. For one thing, too many planets had customs, traditions and rituals in connection with the time of the day - for another, he had a master who was often finely in tune with nature; such changes had to be taken note of, rather than summarily dismissed. Qui-Gon appreciated such things far more than other masters did. It had puzzled Obi-Wan in the beginning; in later years he had learnt to respect it, and had begun to enjoy the finer aspects of such appreciation.

They were escorted by the ever watchful Shabba and his still tongue-tied colleague, and followed the Scaltians through winding hallways of the Royal Palace. Obi-Wan noticed that Qui-Gon, usually observant of his surroundings, and who took the time to enjoy the really beautiful works-of-art that were displayed at appropriate landings and corners, rarely did so. Instead, the master merely looked straight ahead, eyes seemingly in focus - but Obi-Wan, sending a slight tendril of the Force in his direction, sensed Qui-Gon deep in thought. Added to which, their bond was closed to him.

The padawan was aware that the silence was temporary - it had to be - yet, it had not occurred in such a long time that he felt strangely bereft. Worry gnawed at him - worry that Qui-Gon was displeased, and that the master had expected much more from an apprentice in his twenty-third year...at times, it even threatened to overwhelm his earlier confusion about T'shar and her theories. He had told no less than the truth, there - he truly was confused. It appeared to him that the Archivist had succeeded in breaking through years of foundation laid carefully by masters far older to her both in age and experience.

A small thread of guilt reached towards him...again. Archivist T'shar had indeed found it easy to force her opinions into my mind...

Abruptly, he noticed that Qui-Gon had stopped, and was gazing at him - Obi-Wan looked into the blue eyes, and found a mixture of...what? He couldn't quite define the odd feeling that crept through him as he held the master's glance. Within a moment, however, it had passed.

"Master?" he asked. "What is it?"

Qui-Gon drew his eyes from Obi-Wan, and looked to his right. He raised a hand. "There."

Obi-Wan looked - and drew in a breath.

They were standing at a balcony - a huge one, its marbeil archways curving over their heads gracefully. It occured to Obi-Wan that the Scaltians manifested their excellent taste in many ways, far better than certain so-called 'developed' people he had encountered. It was as Qui-Gon had said - they were a unique people, and worthy of knowing. Besides, beauty lay only in the eyes of the beholder.

In front of their eyes, a huge space appeared...and arena of sorts, Obi-Wan realized, with seats in stone allotted at regular intervals. Even at this distance, it looked huge, which meant that it's true proportions must be magnificent. Gaily coloured buntings and banners flew atop poles - some had words written on them.

"They're celebrating the Feast Day, on account of the Se

    Good, good!

Obi-Wan is feeling detached from life--not good at all. Understandable, considering what's happened to him, but it will only get worse, this feeling of isolation and sadness. Qui-Gon is trying to draw him back, get him involved. Very wise. Hope it works.

Win your necklace, Obi-Wan! You deserve it.

    I dare you, padawan mine.

For some reason, coming from Qui, that is hilarious! Well, Qui-Gon found a way to snap Obi-Wan from his depressed thoughts, and I can just imagine the look of utter "Wha...?" on Obi's face. Poor Obi. Well, if anyone can help him, Qui-Gon can. If Qui-Gon were my master, being so full of surprises and such, I would be in a constant state of exhaustion :p Anyways, that was a great post, and I can't wait for the next!!!

Reply-time :) - am I glad that the formatting is allright, now. When I posted, all the apostrophes (??) went haywire, and I went insane, re-formatting everything in the post. Grr...

Shaindl... >>>And I loved that he lied to the King! Got to love maverich Jedi.>>

:D You have to hand it to him - he does think of the most insane/ingenious things...of course, whether the end result will be spectacular success, or a crushing failure remains to be seen. I might decide to wound Obi forever, and relegate him to madness, or something [face_laugh]

I hope that pick-me-up (huh?) pleased you. :) - and how did that event turn out? Knowing you, it was probably a resounding success. :)

maychorian... :) Obi certainly deserves a fair shot at it. Let's hope he comes through the fire...unharmed. :D

LuvEwan... [shakes self out of gooey state] - thank you - am so glad you're sticking to this story :)

Seven...! Glad to see you bounce back, m'dear :D. Sick people, eh? Well, I'm glad you found some relief here. You must be exhausted, poor thing. Thanks for the glowing review - and you can have a go at T'shar, if you wish. :D

    >>>I think you nearly called me a Padawan! Wow.>>>

    Did I...? :D

    KSkywalker...wow. Vulcan. Hmm...

The_Hutt...welcome back to the boards! :) Two months eh? I did wonder where you'd gone - I was used to seeing your messages on various threads - and you write long, juicy ones too - the kind I like :D This is my first thread....under this name :). Glad that you love the imagery - I try hard to give a feel of the places the characters are in - it gives that much more depth to the story. Thanks for reading - and I hope you'll continue to do so :D

Archivist T'shar...hmm. a good smack would probably be in excellent order. :)

EDIT: Having Qui-Gon as a master would be exhausting...but I imagine it would open your eyes to many things one didn't even know were in existence. The master has method behind his madness, after all :). You described Obi's expression so well [face_laugh] 'Wha...' indeed.

Why does the dare seem hilarious? I mean, is it 'good' hilarious, or 'awful' hlarious??? [face_worried]
