So in other words, the writers and such will go to Uncle George for info, not the EU........

    Hmmmmmmmm???????? Interesting.

Doesn't George already have a team of EU consultant types?

I expect they'd go to him regarding plot, characters, motivation and thematic stuff, rather than trivia.

The writers won't adhere to established EU canon. They'll think it up, George will okay it.

    The film will be awesome.

    I hope so too!

I'm sure they'll stick with species names and planet names, etc, just as they did with the PT. I hope that's the extent of it, the EU is a convoluted mess.

Yeah. Names only. The events have to be original. And they will be, otherwise they might as well get somebody like Zahn to write the screenplay. Yawn.

Jesus christ the first page in and people are already claiming the EU is getting the shaft with no proof and the people who defend it are the bad guys

For a small admittance fee you can pat George on the head.

Not adhering to the EU and a minimum of involvement from George Lucas. Best.Of.Both.Worlds

I betcha he'll still get an Executive Producer credit at the end of it, they toss those out like hotcakes in some big productions. Gene Roddenberry got a "consultant" credit on the Star Trek movies but that mostly consisted of him complaining about every single Star Trek movie he didn't get involved in.

Sorry to inform you but Jesus Christ will not be making an appearance in this film, nor will his father God. Thank you for your understanding.

I think the writers will hit up wookipedia first, then take it to GL to give it the once over. I imagine GL working furiously on charitable projects, I get the feeling the doing some kick ass good is high on his bucket list.

I consider Zahn one of the good two, though his recent efforts have been very poor. Cascade Point (not a SW book) is well worth a read. I wish I could unread the Hand duology and Survivor's Quest. I'm not sure I'll ever bother finishing Allegiance. Outbound Flight and the Heir trilogy are pretty good, but suffer from too much shoehorned continuity nonsense and whimsy... His Mara Jade graphic novel is incredibly bad, but one of the better Star Wars comics. ;)

The other good one is Luceno, btw, but I've only read Plagueis.

That sucks. Wookieepedia has misinformation from erroneous sources and occasional mistakes.

    This is a surprise--how exactly?

As far as whether Episode VII will incorporate existing EU or not--don't know, don't care, but I think the conversation that has already happened in this one-page thread shows that they can't win regardless. If they incorporate EU and incorporate "bad" EU, someone will be upset.

What's he going to do... Cut off the Siths ears and then reattach it? Or is he going to kill the Sith and then bring them back to life?

If I hear Han Solo say, "Gimme a minute, I'll call Dash Rendar for advice," I'm walking out of the theatre.
