Lucas to Receive AFI Lifetime Award

Anyway, I'm really glad Lucas is getting the award After all he's done for film, he deserves it.

That's great news for George and his fans. I'm really happy for him.

I lost a lot of respect for AFI though when they didn't even have Luke Skywalker on the top 50 Greatest Heroes list. And Star Wars was only 15th in the top 100 Greatest Movies of all-time. Star Wars clearly should have been in the top 5 considering what it's done for cinema.

Still, I'm glad they are smart enough to recongnize George for his amazing accomplishments in film.

 

George deserves the award, absolutely. He should have gotten it years ago.

 

Its well deserved. GL is one of the greatest directors ever in the history of cinema and with a few films but all classics (atleast as far as I am concerned) hes a real J.D Salinger of The Motion Picture world.

 

"Ladies and gentlemen, upon accepting this award, I would like to ask everyone who didn't believe in Star Wars to kiss my big, fat, white, hairy $%# ..."

 

We need to make sure that we stack the audience with as many Star Wars fans as possible.

The guy desearves it. Lucas has given me something to enjoy for over twenty years now. Been a fan since I was sleeping in my ROTJ sheets.

I wonder what impact this AFI Lifetime Award for Lucas will have on the critics' reviews of 3SA? IMHO, it's deliciously ironic timing! Those sheeplike creatures (ahem.. critics) love to jump on the latest bandwagon. How will this award next summer affect how they review his last SW film coming out next summer? Won't they look somewhat stupid if they rant on and on in their typical ovine way?

George could OWN Hollywood - pretty good for a little independent film maker.

If you watch the "Empire of Dreams" feature on disc 4 of the OT DVD set, there's some good background info on Lucas at the beginning. It's good insight to where he came from.
