Saga Luke, Sidious & Episode Titles

    Has anyone ever noticed that the first and third episode titles of each trilogy refer to Luke and Sidious?
    In the OT, you have 'A New Hope' and 'Return of the Jedi'-- which are arguable, if not obvious, references to Luke. In the PT, you have 'The Phantom Menace' and 'Revenge of the Sith'-- clear-cut references to Sidious {whom Lucas referred to as 'the revenge of the Sith' during the release of ROTS}.

    Was this intentional on Lucas's part and, if so, why?
