Callie: Thanks! It was great - mostly. The resort was beautiful and we had time for some R&R. But then there was a delay coming home and, once again, I spent entirely too much of my life in the Atlanta airport. That is the last time I travel with only one book!

Hey All, don't yell at me. I didn't start it this time. Anyway, he's gone now so end of problem. Of course, he'll no doubt be back. You know, if you look at people who say bad things about Luke as troublemakers, you're just going to drive yourself nuts. Try and have a sense of humor about it. Play games with their heads. It's fun, and far less painful on the blood pressure. Trust me.

Ok, question time. Is Luke cuter than Obi Wan? Yes, absolutely. But it's not just an issue of looks. It has everything to do with personality. Luke is likable. I'd like to put my fist through Ben's face.

Does anyone out there reject the EU story that Luke went over to the dark side? Come on, that's the last thing he'd do!

 

maryn17: yes, yes, yes, a thousand times yes!!! Luke would never give in to the dark side--I don't care if it is to "infiltrate" it and destroy it from the inside.

His statement in ROTJ was clear and emphatic:

He made his choice while facing the ultimate temptation, and if he rejected it then, then he certainly would have never reversed it later on.

To show him going to the dark side later on is to contradict everything that saga was trying to communicate (which makes me wonder how those comics ever got approval). George Lucas' key message in the movies was that good would triumph over evil, no matter how tempting evil is, and I choose to ignore anything that doesn't fit that.
