ST Luke Skywalker's New (or Old) Jedi Order?

Jedi Pilots are something the EU had that just might make it into the films.

 

For all the good it does anyone.

They willingly went into battle alongside their mentors/namesakes. They don't have to be called sidekicks to be their partners. Clark and Diana both willingly used kids, the same way that Bruce, Ollie and Arthur did. Not to mention, the Marvel family are made up of kids out there fighting. Meanwhile, in another universe, Captain America was partnered with a fifteen year old boy named Bucky Barnes, with the US government giving it the okay.

 

I'd love to see a movie following a squadron of Jedi pilots.

 

I never got that feeling.

 

I never got it either. Just because Luke happened to be a fighter jock has nothing to do with it being signature activity of the Jedi.

 

Or even Anakin: "He was the finest star pilot in the galaxy, and a cunning warrior. And he was a good friend."

 

I don't really want the Jedi to have any tie to the Alliance so I am not sure I like the idea of them having Alliance star fighters.

 

I think there definitely need to be Jedi in these films. More Jedi than just Luke.

 

Vader, who wasn't Anakin at the time, is the top pilot at Yavin.

 

Stick to the OT model. Less is good.

 

You can have more than one and still have less than the PT. Five to twelve Jedi in the ST would be ideal in my opinion.

They might tailer "their version of Mara" (if they do one) to appeal to the same type of people as liked Ventress.

Indeed, Mara could be said to be "the Ventress prototype".

I did get that impression, especially before the clone troopers came around to aid the Jedi. You mean to tell me the Jedi Order were the guardians of the galaxy for a thousand generations without developing any serious piloting skills? Come on....

I never got the feeling that piloting was ignored in favor of lightsabers. Especially when you consider that the Jedi had their own personal fighters commissioned for their use, including Yoda who got to show his in the end of TCW series.

 

Depends on the individual Jedi. They certainly undergo training on many types of vehicles, but it certainly isn't necessary to have every single Jedi be a starfighter ace.

 

The connection to the Force allows Jedi and Sith to be great pilots. But whether they want to be largely pilots falls under other factors. Anakin wanted to be a pilot since he can remember which is why he called himself a pilot and talked about wanting to visit as many worlds as possible. Because of this and his strong connection to the Force, Anakin became one hellva good pilot. Luke was the same way, in his own way, inheriting his father's traits. Obi-wan could fly well, but he didn't have the same passion for it that Anakin did.
