Well, this is my first time posting fanart on the internet. I've been doing it for a few years now, just to entertain myself and my friends. Usually I prefer pen and/or colored pencil (I have a set of 120 prismacolors---eeeeee!!!!! I luv), but I recently ventured into computer fanart--fairly accidentally, I assure you. I was goofing around on Microsoft Paint, trying to draw Obi-Wan using mostly those pre-determined shapes. What I ended up with made me (and my sw buddy) laugh for several minutes straight...my bubble-Obi. After this, I wanted to try my hand at a more sophisticated style...see what I could actually do in Microsoft Paint. They're a bit of a departure from the original Bubble-Obi, but...I like them :D.

This is the first in my new exploration of Paint...all of these were done with only the tools found on the left side of the screen in the program, though I did choose my own colors by double-clicking on the ones already there. This is Luminara Unduli--however, she is not as depicted in the movies. I think the book descriptions of her are closer to her true appearance, and this image mimics those instead. Oh, and that's Obi-Wan's EpIII lightsabre in the corner.

    http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa15/Luminara_Kenobi/Lumi.jpg

Next, I decided to try my hand at an Amidala...I love drawing her, with the intricate (read: cumbersome) costumes and headdresses, and the makeup is always so fun to color.

    http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa15/Luminara_Kenobi/Amidala.jpg

This one is definitely one of my favorites...I dunno why. This is a drawing of Aayla Secura, another of my favorite characters...you may have noticed by now that all of the characters drawin in this style are female. This is because, simply, I am not very good at drawing males, in general, and I really don't know how to make it look credible using this technique...oh, well--sorry! I chose the darker blue coloring of the graphic novels here, but the costume resembles the one she wore in the movies.

    http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa15/Luminara_Kenobi/Aalya.jpg

After conquering the wrapped lekku of Aayla, I (somewhat stupidly) decided it would be a good idea to try Shaak Ti next. She took longer to complete, but I'm pleased with the results. While her costume and stripes are taken from the movie depiction of her, the face more closely resembles the Clone Wars Cartoon Shaak--a bit younger, softer, and, like Shaak herself, sweeter.

    http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa15/Luminara_Kenobi/Shaak.jpg

And, lastly, but not leastly, I present...Leia. Complete with cinna-buns from ANH and an Alderaanian-style white dress. I think she's rather adorable.

    http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa15/Luminara_Kenobi/Leia.jpg

Okay, this is the Bubble-Obi. It's meant to be silly-looking, of course, but I think it at least bears some resemblence. (Don't worry, the others utilize a very different technique and style---much more sophisticated.)

Hope you like them!!! Comments welcomed :D [face_batting].

Wow--Paint is notoriously difficult to work in, so respect there! =D= And I rather like "Bubble Obi!" :p He's unique and kind of cute! You have a nice almost "soft CW" style to the women, particularly with Shaak Ti--I like it! I'd also love to see some of your Prismacolor work, as well (can't use 'em myself, but really love to see that type of art!)--feel free to post up some of those, too! Welcome to the forum!

It's always amazing what people can do with Paint! I think I've been spoiled by Photoshop, I can't get anything out of Paint anymore. Nice to see some great talent in that field! Leia's my favourite (I think, I can't choose...) :)

    earlybird-obi-wan-- thanks!

FalconFan-- thank you for the compliment! Paint is rather hard, but I think I've set up a good system to get it what I want to do [face_mischief]. I'd love to post some of my prismacolor stuff, but...these boards present a formidable standard! My favorite was traced to get basic proportions, so I'd feel kinda' cheap...

Basement24-- thank you! I used to play around in paintshop, but that was when I was pretty young, and the results were always very cartoonish...I'd almost be afraid to use it now...I like the control over every pixel that Paint gives me. I think Leia might be my favorite, too! :D

[:D] to all for the wonderful welcome!

That is so cool! I didn't even know these forums were here! But still, that is cool! Hey, for an aspiring artist (aka me) would you mind outlining how you post pictures here? I'm confused. And new to this forum. Anyway, that was awesome that you did all those in paint! I can't draw anything in paint... or if i did, it would end up looking like Bubble-Obi... who was cute by the way he has a certain kind of style.... but my cuz is great at paint, and she'd probably like to know how to do these...

Thanks Lumifan! I'm glad you like them. I didn't know you did fanart too, though! I was kinda' flying blind when I posted these, I could tell you, but the "Welcome to the Fanart Forum" would do it better. They have some really good tips and links to sites where you can store the images. I can't wait to see your stuff--please pm me when you do it!

Edit-- I'm currently working on a Padme (senator-era), but I seem to be having trouble with her hair (big surprise [face_frustrated]), I can't seem to decide on a style so none of them are turning out...hopefully it won't be too much longer.

Okay, here's the Padmé I was talking about. I finally cracked down and finished her in, of course, the wee hours of the morning. Again, morphing a few of her costumes from the prequels together with some of my own design.

Very pretty once again--I like the originality to some of these costume designs. You should take up a pencil and see if you can't start sketching some actual costume concepts--I'm sure you'd be very good at that! ;) :D

Thank you! Actually, I'm pretty in to costume design. I love to draw different outfits (the weird, Amidala-esque ones being my favorites) and experiment with the placements of different draping and shapes (if that makes any sense). I'm better with a ballpoint pen, though...I just can't seem to get too much detail out of paint with all the shading I like to do. Maybe I'll post some of those, too.

    Okay, some newer stuff!

This is another Padmé that I was working on simultaneously with the other one. I finally figured out the sort of outfit I wanted to do here. The dress was inspired by her 'lake dress' from AotC, but for the coloring here, I chose bronze adornments rather than silver.

    http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa15/Luminara_Kenobi/Padme2.jpg

This next one is an OC a friend and I came up with. I love creating outfits for her, as well, as we've made her an expert thrift shopper. Sorry about the quality here, I accidentally saved it as a jpg first, and that screwed up some of the shading.

    http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa15/Luminara_Kenobi/Naudia.jpg

Back to canon, I present Barriss Offee! I don't know why she turned out smaller in the view than the others, but it gave me even more room to work with a costume for her. As with some of the other characters, I've taken her appearance more from the books--she doesn't wear the cumbersome headdresses her master does, and her lips aren't stained black. I think she's one to sort of play with the boundaries of Jedi robes, as well, so here I've given her a bit of color.

Hey... Luminara_Kenobi, you're on a roll with these! Is a career as an artist in your future? If I ever post any of my drawings, they'll be pen and ink cuz my others all look stupid... PM when you add more ? These are very interesting, and I want to see more... although I REALLY want an update of the lil Obi/Lumi story! I miss it! is an update in the near future!

The latest pieces are very nice, but I'm especially loving the one of Bariss: we don't see much fanart of her, and this one is lovely! Nice job with her violet-colored eyes! ;)

LittleZion: thank you for the compliment, I love Shaak, too!

Lumifan: lol, my parents are/were artists, and the one thing they've told me since childhood is don't be an artist! (starving artist sounds fun, but the starving part kinda' sucks) I can't wait to see your work, pen and ink is my fav to work in. And, I know, I know, I'm sorry. DRL's kinda' put up a big DWB. I draw to help me think, but I just haven't bee able to write anything worthwhile lately. Sorry!!

FalconFan: Thank you! I've noticed the lack of fanart of characters like Barriss. There's an amazing piece that came from a painting based on a photo of a fan in Barriss costume (It'll make sense in her description) at this site:

Yeah! Kudos, I love that piece!

Okay, a little update with two new pics...

This is my first profile attempt in this style, and I'm pretty pleased with how it came out. The subject is one of Padmé's handmaidens. I tried to get the style of Naboo in the flowing dress, hopefully it worked.

    http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa15/Luminara_Kenobi/Handmaiden.jpg

And this one is a first on a couple of levels...it has two people (Padawans Kenobi and Unduli), one of which is male, and I attempted a background. This is a vague representation of how I always picture the Jedi temple hallways where quarters are located...not quite as ostentatious as the movies, but still elegant, I think.

    Thanks Lumifan!

I've been playing around a bit more with the 'Paint' people...I suppose I should scan some of my other drawings...these get repetative after a while. They're fun, though!

I was reading "Second Chances" by VadersLadies (i think?), and it features a young Leia as one of the characters. It got me thinking about another drawing I'd seen done of her, and I wanted to try it for my own. Alderaan supposedly has beautiful gardens--what little girl wouldn't want a flower in her hair?

    http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa15/Luminara_Kenobi/LittleLeia.jpg

Here, I was itching to try another Padme costume design--I've said before, I love to play with her wardrobe! This one's fairly intricate, I think, and takes a lot of influence from AotC.

    http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa15/Luminara_Kenobi/Padme3.jpg

    Hope you enjoy, comments welcomed!

Lovely work, Luminara. :) I love the attention you put into detail and I love your costume designs. It would be very easy to see them fitting into the GFFA. I especially enjoyed your two latest. Leia is very fitting (great hairstyle) and beautiful and Padme's gown is lush an expensive looking.

Looking forward to see what else you create. :)

These are really neat, especially considering they were done in *paint*. All the characters have such personality; they really feel like photos of the people, and the costumes are just nifty.

I'd love to see more. ;)
