I'm going to have to disagree. I believe that these photos are actually why Lupita and Gwendoline also coincidentally happened to be officially announced today, as well... Their characters were probably going to be try to kept secret longer...

I remember reading a comment on another forum somewhere that she could be playing Boyega's mother, who has turned to the dark side (and perhaps abandoned him as a child). I rather like that idea. Of course Lupita is only 10 years older than John, but with a little makeup, etc, I think they could get away with it. Wasn't Sean Connery only about 12 years older than Harrison when he played Indy's dad?

And honestly, we don't know for sure yet if Daisy is the only Solo child -- or IF she is a Solo child, for that matter.

 

Ashoka and Ventress would be be even older than the Big 3 are.

I like what the guy from the Hollywood Reporter said......The new big 3 could be Daisy, John and Lupita.

They said that the movie would be about a trio of new young leads. You don't waste a talent like Lupita in a secondary role, unless she's a villain (I don't think she is).

 

I would like to see her play Ventress or Ventress's daughter/Younger Sister.

Ventress on the big screen! it's the dream!

 

Alec Guiness was one of the all time great actors and an Oscar winner when he was cast in the original. He was neither part of the big 3 nor a villain. Go figure.

If John is the lead, then he needs a backstory that is relevant to the story otherwise he wouldn't stand out among those blood related to the OT characters. I hope Lupita is a force sensitive related to his character, and is a Sith. Maybe an older sister?

Indeed he did. I am sure whichever supporting role Lupita plays, she will play to perfection as well.
