Too many of the new character's names are too short. Rey, Finn, Poe, Maz... It's confusing!

Maz-Maz Kanata sounds cooler.

 

Well a lot of people feel that Rey is shortened for Kira Rey to avoid any direct link to Kylo Ren for obvious reasons.

 

If that is the case we have a few possibilities:

1. Maz's CGI render.
2. Serkis's Uber.
3. Domnhall Gleeson's Imperial Officer.
4. Max von Sydow's Character.
5. Luke Skywalker.
6. Princess Leia.

 

Would be nice, but I doubt it. Since it's a last minute change it will likely be less revelatory than Captain Phasma. I'm thinking on the level of a smiling JJ Abrams standing next to a creature-costumed extra.

Why do you say it's a last minute change? Am I missing something?

1) Fingers crossed, high chance imo since they already showed us Lupita with mo-cap dots and Kanata's castle...they'd want to start the talk.
2) Nah, doubtful, he is a mistery
3) But for bonus picture? Only if he's aboard the Star Destroyer
4) Maybe, that would be underwhelming tbh
5) No way, heh
6) My second bet after Maz

In honor of May the Fourth (... be with you, groan), Vanity Fair has published a bunch of new photos from the set of Star Wars: Episode 7 The Force Awakens. And while the biggest reveal may be the unmasked Star Wars: The Force Awakens villain Kylo Ren, the photo set also provided an opportunity to finally reveal who Lupita Nyong’o will play in Star Wars: Episode 7. Sure, we haven’t actually seen her character yet, but it’s become pretty clear that she’ll basically be the Jabba the Hutt of the new Star Wars sequel trilogy.

Pretty much this. MVS and Gleeson, as very small roles, would not be worth all the hype they are giving this because nobody would really care. They aren't going to reveal Luke's look until later. Leia? Well I think VF is mostly a female driven magazine so it would make sense. Maz? Ditto AND Lupita is one of, if not THE new "it" girl so that makes sense also.

What would be AWESOME beyond awesome is if they revealed a panned-back image of Maz handing Leia the lightsaber so we get not one but TWO character reveals.

I think we will one day see a Star Wars episodic film without R2D2.

They'll ditch R2 and 3PO after ep 9 I reckon. I think they'll probably kill 3po off at some point but R2 will roll off into the sunset.

 

The red one can be named "Look at me!" or just "What makes the Red man red"
