ST Lupita Nyong'o (Maz Kanata) in Episode VII

Assuming she is a villian lets hope Von Sydow is giving the marching orders, I cannot see Driver handing out orders to her convincingly if he is the big bad.

 

I'm betting she has merely a supporting (but important) role in this film, but that her role will expand in the next two installments. Or at least, I kinda hope that's the case (of her role getting bigger). But yeah, considering she wasn't at the initial read-through, it's probable that she has a smaller part in this movie.

 

That would be really cool if she is her or someone like her. I just started watching TCW and she is a really cool character!

 

My theory is that Von Sydow is going to lend credibility to the new villains, and I don't think he's going to be there the entire series. Of the ones giving orders, I think it's more likely Lupita, being in the shadows at this point, and Driver operating as her right hand. Von Sydow is probably the Grand Moff Tarkin of the story, and is perhaps betrayed or removed later to give way for the younger villains. Because if you think about it, the good guys have established characters to play off of. But all the villains of the OT are dead.

 

Morocco? Now what would that be? We know that Tatooine is Abu Dhabi. Perhaps Korriban(yes, yes I know new name, don't care)? Maybe that's where she is hiding. So, yeah she is a Sith. Awesome.

 

In my mind there is a difference between background characters and supporting characters. I don't think either will be background. But I also don't think they'll be new trio. I still think there is a lot of room for roles on the same level as Bale Organa and Tarkin.

On this idea she may be related to Obi-Wan:

We don’t know if that is true and if it is then Lucas is the one who created her so there will be a good reason.

Where will it be answered?

Rebels maybe?

The most obvious answer is that she won’t be a biological grand-daughter but a spiritual one. Obi-Wan had some interaction with some women “adopted” a child whose own child is the new character in the ST. Maybe this child was strong in the Force etc etc. There are many ways to make this work.

Can't wait for SDCC! Hopefully then we will be told which of the cast are the main players in Ep VII.

 

I think a major support role/villain for Lupita. I think its a reworked part from that female teenager description.

 

Maybe a surprise. Lucasfilm does not have a panel scheduled this year.

 

According to Wiki, she was born in Mexico City. She identifies as Mexican/Kenyan. She lives in NYC now. Who'd have thunk?

Maisie has been cast along with someone else named Katie Jarvis, so I doubt it. Its probably a completely different role.

 

She does have the look of Ventress so why not......

 

I called it a few months ago, and I'll say it again...she's Ahsoka Tano.

Yeah...Ventress might be cool too, but Lupita seems too "sweet" to play such a villainess.
