Call me ignorant, but is Maarek Stele(sp?) the ''official'' EU persona of the TIE pilot who you play as in TIE Fighter?
If so, what's his life story? If not, who IS it that did all that stuff as far as the ''records'' go?

As a sidenote, why is it that some Royal Guards(Mara's would-be assassin, Carnor Jax.)have black face plates, & others red? I'm not familiar with the heirarchy...

Maarek Stele is in tiefighter, right. The story is in the stele chronicles and Tiefigher strategy guide, as well as later gamer #5.

He was made an emperor's hand, then later was premoted to emperor's hand in the secret order of the prophets of the darkside, and later became an emperor's reach in the secret order as well. But while being a hand to the emperor.

You know I've always found Maarek Stele more interesting than Farlander(sp?)(the guy from X-Wing I think that was his name)

I'd heard somewhere that he ended up as a Sith Adept...
& wasn't it the Secret Order Of The Emperor?

Another sidenote, but, what's an Emperor's Reach? Hand, I know...but Reaches are...

The Maarek Stele character was developed far more than the Farlander character was, unfortunately.

How do you know that he became a Sith adept? Where is that anyway? Is that where you are at the end of the game?

I think it was somewhere in the ''emperor's hand/s(???)'' thread. Someone said he ended up a Sith Adept.
I'm not sure how high you can go in rank in TIE Fighter(I was at ''General'' when I completed it.), but you can get up to Emperor's Reach in the Secret Order of the Emperor.
    Just what IS that, anyway?

He became a member of the 181st after the Emperor's death. Before that, he was a TIE Pilot for Admiral Mordon, Admiral Harkov, Grand Admiral Zaarin, and helped Grand Admiral Thrawn defeat Grand Admiral Zaarin. He would later become a member of the Emperor's Sword Fighter Wing escort.

Now there saying the SA stands for Starfighter Ace which is probably an error, since SA stands for Sith Adept, I think Starfighter Ace is abbreviated SFA. So he's not a Sith Adept but a Starfighter Ace, at this time they can easily change it if they wish.

He was a Hand for the Emperor, but a Reach I believe for the Secret Order.

Where does it say ''SA'', again? Emperor's Sword Escort Wing...have to check up on what that was at Hangerbay. Is Stele still alive?

Was Admiral Zaarin a Grand Admiral? I just assumed that they had duffed up that cut scene when he was in the Grand Admiral's outfit, the one where they destroyed the TIE Avenger facilities, I think.
After all, Thrawn was in the Grand Admiral's uniform when he was still a Vice Admiral.

''Admiral'' should never have to be repeated so many times in one passage...[face_plain]

It says he is in the new Star Wars Chronological(sp?) book.

Stele is still alive, patroling Imperial space shooing New Republic vessels away from getting the Empire involved in the Yuuzhan Vong war. It says that in the Gamer #5.

I've GOT to find out what these ''Gamer'' thingies are...then buy them...
Wasn't he in the Unknown Regions with Thrawn at the end of TIE Fighter?

I think I read somewhere that Thrawn left the Unknown Region to battle Zaarin. When Zaarin was defeated, Thrawn returned to the Unknown region. (don't take this as fact because I'm not sure myself)

Yeah, that's conjecture, but it works. Thrawn went to the Unknown Regions just before ESB. He participated in the battle of Derra IV, and then went on a five year mission (as mentioned in the Heir to the Empire Sourcebook) out in the Unknown Regions. He briefly returned to do battle with the traitor Grand Admiral Zaarin, and then went back (this was during ROTJ). He came back about four years later, eight years after Yavin.

Stele is a cool guy, whenever I play his charachter I felt invincible whenever I would take down capital ships and there fighters with the missleboat.

Carnor Jax made a custom outfit for himself, though I'm not a 100% sure on that.

Zaarin was indeed a Grand Admiral, it says he was in the Essential Chronology. Thrawn was already a Grand Admiral unofficially, but the Emperor had a rule of there being only 12 Grand Admirals at any one time. When Zaarin turned traitor the Emperor made his promotion to Thrawn official.

SA comes from the stats in the gamer issue. SA is said to be Sith Accolyte/Adept in the Dark Side sourcebook. Abreviation rules.

The author of the article intended it to be starfighter ace(which I think gamplay rules would have been SFA). But it got abbreviated to SA, which falls under DSSB rules. the Author says he doesn't mind what future author interpret it to mean though, that's not up to him and he's all for the shared universe experiance.

Maarek's really the ultimate Imperial, isn't he?
Served under Grand Admiral Thrawn, flew with Darth Vader & Soontir Fel, Emperor's Hand, Sith Adept, blew up great big capital ships...what has he NOT done?

What was his listed rank? General?

well, his rank was Tan, some special honorary rank. Only one other person got that honor we know about (Tan Anakin Skywalker).

Beyond that he was supposed to have been pretty high on the premotion list. But he honored fel as the leader of 181st.

Then we are to assume what, that Tan is similar to Darth? Are there any sources saying what exactly the name entails?

I was thinking more in military terms, though...

Tan is special pilot honor. It has nothing to do with the term Darth. Not much has been said about it beyond the author linking it together. Tan skywalker was mentioned classic star wars comics.

Now considering that maarek was level of emperor's reach in the prophets of the darkside, because he did everything that the novel/strat says he did. It would be safe to say he got the highest premotion in the game as well. But I don't remember what that is.

No. the prophets in GODV were imposters of the real prophets who happen to be in hiding.

Ah. You don't happen to know the name of that guy you report to & get tatoo/zapped by?
I heard that he was actually High Inquisitor Tremayne, but then, I know...well, nothing about the Imperial Inquisition.

Nope he's unknown and a mystery. All we know is he is a prophet in the Secret Order of the Prophets of the darkside.

I too would like to know who he is. If the novel/strat says anything though when I read it in a few months I might find out then.

You're so clued up it's not real. :D
I'm only recently crossing over into the EU outside of the books & some of the games though, so my knowledge of the comics & wee small details is limited.

There's a novel? About Maarek? the Prophets?
