    Hello Everyone!

Does anyone possess the definitive color balance scheme for rotoing a saber to Mace Windu's Purple? The best so far I've got is this:

    Midtone Red: 75%
    Highlight Red: 75%

    Midtone Blue: 100%
    Highlight Blue: 100%

I am, of course, using Ryan W's fantastic saber method. Any help?

you can add in some magenta to it, i think it would be a negative green color balance, but those color settings that u posted turn out looking very close to it

Just play with the meters and use what looks best for the specific shot you are working on.

The most Mace Windu settings I've found are based off:

    Midtone Red Balance 64
    Midtone Green Balance -43
    Midtone Blue Balance 100

    Hilight Red Balance 9
    Hilight Green Balance -24
    Hilight Blue Balance 83

Don't kill yourself on color matching. It's going to look totally different on every single monitor that it plays back on. This goes doubly so if you burn it to VCD or VCR.

Just try to get it as close as you can by using your own eyeballs.

As opposed to using someone else's.

Because newbies are prone to that.

I agree that "color is in the eye of the beholder", but, I tried DorkmanScott's numbers, and they look great.

Thanks to Dorkman, those numbers turn out great.

Yes, newbies (to SW fan films) tend to adapt other's visual schemes, this is true... I did make several attempts at creating it myself, and although it seemed real close it just felt 'off'. Newbies have the unfortunate endemic feelings of "I must be doing something wrong/I must have missed something" nagging at them... I know I do even though I've figured out a great deal of visual effects on my own.

Sometimes, however, there is just no better way to go. When someone perfects something (like Ryan and Dorkman have with the saber method), there's no sense in recreating from scratch what has already been done to perfection. Hence the US patent office. :)
