Hey there....I made this clip with me shooting a machine gun and i want people's opinion on wether or not it looks good. but the only problem is that i have no way of putting it on the internet.

If someone can host it for me it will be GREAT...Its 1.10 MB and its in quicktime format. I only need it up for a day orso everytone can tell me what they think. thanks.

I can't host it for you (unless you want it on a free Geocities account, ack!), but I'm curious as to what you used to make the test?

It doesn't strike me as real. It looks cartoonish. Still, it's pretty good.

I know Alamdv has some good muzzle flashes. I think you can get them off the site for free. Either that or there was a way to get alamdv1 for free. If you get these flashes, you can just screen them on.

I'd say darken the muzzle flash, blur it a little, and add a little variety, maybe some different shapes.

the absolute biggest reason why it looks fake is that you don't move at all when you are firing the gun. Your just standing there. Try to make it look like the gun is has some recoil.

no, I believe that the reason it looks fake is because it is just a colored and rounded triangle. Look at fire, and look at some of the muzzle flashes in movies. It is volumetric, try to imitate that.

DISCLAIMER - Knows nothing about how to create muzzle flashes.

I have a picture of an assualt rifle muzzle flash that I made for pursuit...

    Clicky

I made it using a complex particle system in Blender using motion blur. It's nice too, as it's not a static particle system. So it can be animated for a slow-motion shot, or you can take one frame like I did for a normal time shot. It also has a "Seed" feature, which means you can change the configuration of the particles to move around to different places, changing the randomness of muzzle flash, but still keeping the same general shape. This would be used if say like the gentlemen in this post, you were having a string of lots of muzzle flashes one after another and didn't want to use the same one.

Bottom line: Join the Blender side, it's far more powerful than you have ever imagined.

Nah, see, what it needs is a scream at the end of the shooting. That way we know the test worked: someone's fulla holes.

Yes, question about blender... I went there and was assualted with words like 'it is illigal to download blender production!' and 'downloads not available' and 'the blender board of directos have decided...'

eeeek! I thought it was a nice little free thing, why am i getting assaulted with these words? Can't I just download it for the love of god?

Yeah, it does look pasted on. Maybe you could add a translucency to it.
