Machining lightsabers- Lathe/machine tool reccomendations.

    He obviously wants to make machined sabers, not hardware ones!

    Depending on how much you want to spend getting started you have a few options:

    1) You can start out with a used one and go to eBay to find it, there's plenty to choose from there.

    2) You can get a new machine from places like Harbor Freight, Sherline, or Smithy. All of these will machine aluminum and some are combo units that will also have a drill press built into them.

    3) You can go top shelf and get a CNC machine . Big bucks but a really cool toy :D.

    I have a Harbor Freight 7x10 lathe. It's good, but looking back, I wish I'd bought something a bit longer.
