    Title: Maelstrom
    Author: VaderLVR64
Characters: Anakin, Padmé, the Naberrie family
Summary: Anakin escorts Padmé home after the Battle of Geonosis
Notes: This is based on an incident mentioned in Jedi vs. Sith: The Essential Guide to the Force. Anakin?s words to Pooja are not my creation, they are directly from her own recollection of their second meeting.

    Maelstrom

    ?She is a woman, therefore may be wooed;
She is a woman, therefore may be won." - William Shakespeare

Padmé took a deep, calming breath before she opened the door to her parents? home. Beside her, she felt Anakin do the same. She glanced up at him and smiled, worriedly noting his pallor and the shadows in his eyes. At his side, the new prosthetic hand clenched and unclenched spasmodically.

She reached down and lightly squeezed the golden fingers and saw some emotion she could not name flash over Anakin?s handsome face. ?It?ll be all right,? she reassured him yet again.

Nodding once, he kept his eyes straight ahead and she repressed a sigh. The fight with Dooku had taken more from Anakin than his arm. Something inside of the young Jedi had shifted, been transformed and made room for something else. It troubled her that she could not identify what it was.

Before she could open the door, it flew open and she was being swept into her mother?s almost too tight embrace. ?Oh Padmé?? her mother breathed, her voice almost a sob.

Only vaguely aware that Anakin was stepping back, Padmé was surprised to find that tears were tracing down her own cheeks. Unable to speak, she grabbed Jobal Naberrie close, her grip as determined as that of her mother. Until that moment, Padmé had not realized how afraid she was that she would never see her family again.

Then there was her father, embracing them both, his voice gruff and husky with emotion. ?My little girl,? he whispered, running his big, familiar hands over her hair and then clutching at her shoulders. ?My Padmé??

From inside the house, Padmé heard the shouts of her nieces and soon felt two impacts as the girls came flying toward her. Six-year-old Ryoo reached her first, followed closely by Pooja and then she felt four little arms wrap themselves around her legs. ?Aunt Padmé!? they both screamed in unison.

Padmé looked toward the doorway and saw her sister standing there, her hands at her throat, tears shimmering in her eyes. She said nothing, merely leaned into Darred heavily, as if the weight of the galaxy had been lifted at last from her shoulders.

It was then that Ruwee finally took notice of Anakin and removed himself from the huddle of his loved ones and grasped Anakin firmly by the hand. ?Son,? he said. ?We don?t know how to thank you.?

Anakin cast a desperate glance Padmé?s way and she took mercy on him. Quickly, she moved to his side. ?Can we go inside?? she asked. ?We?re both rather tired from? from everything.?

Jobal?s face paled as she was reminded of exactly how much danger her daughter had been in during recent months. Nodding, she led them all inside, though her hands fluttered to touch Padmé?s hair once more, as if she needed to simply touch her.

Once inside, Sola approached Anakin, and to his obvious surprise, embraced him tightly. ?Thank you, Anakin,? she murmured. ?For everything.? She gave a little laugh. ?First you save all of Naboo and now you save my sister?s life.? Sola cradled Anakin?s face in her hands. ?And I?m even more grateful for the second miracle than I am for the first.?

Anakin began to blush and the color stood out on his pale face, for even the perpetual tan of a Tatooine native was not enough to disguise the effects of his recent injury. ?You?re welcome,? he said simply.

It was then that Sola looked down and noticed the golden hand. ?Padmé told us about your injury,? she said. ?I?m so sorry.? The words were simple but heartfelt, Padmé knew.

Anakin shifted subtly, shielding his hand slightly with his cloak and nodded silently. Sensing Anakin?s discomfort, Padmé smiled brightly at her fam

Loved all the emotion of this. The way Anakin and Padme were talking with gestures and distances. Great job. Loved it!

Oops, you did it again. Another great vignette. The whole A/P relationship was poorly handled in Clone Wars, except in one scene that Lucas actually cut. It was the scene where she and Anakin went to her home on Naboo, and she showed him her old room. That's what this scene reminded me of. Something that made the whole relationship work and should have been in the movie, but wasn't.

    Great job as always.

An excellent portrayal of Anakin and Padmé's powerful and tempestuous relationship. The title is so apt - I love it!
And I loved the nonverbal communication happening between them, and between Padmé's family members.
    Incredibly well written. Bravo! =D=

?Sleep? I will watch over you?forever.?

    [face_love] [face_love] [face_love] [face_love]

    That was absolutely beautiful.

I can't say I blame Padme for caving. She loves Anakin plain and simple. That combined with his lethal baby blues are too much for any woman to resist.

    Great job on this

The room swirled around her, making her head swim. It was like being caught in a whirlpool of warm, sweet water. It was deadly and dangerous, but it was so tempting simply to give in to the sensation and allow herself to be swept away.

?All right,? she answered with a tiny nod of her head. The maelstrom that was Anakin Skywalker claimed her.

Joy blazed in his blue eyes. She forgot the events of the Tusken camp and the terrible rage that had flowed through him when he spoke of the events that took place there. That no longer mattered; it was in the past. The future was theirs and it beckoned to her.

There was only Anakin and what he felt for her.

Once more, he leaned down and whispered in her ear. ?Sleep? I will watch over you?forever.?

Whoa! [face_love] [face_love] The intensity of emotions in this viggie is just...wow! [face_love] Basically, Padme never stood a chance.

Exquisitely written, my dear! I have to say, you've shamed me. I got my book before you did, and I've barely had a chance to look through it and you've already written a viggie inspired by it! :p [face_laugh]

He leaned down and placed his lips on hers. When he straightened, the shadows had started to retreat from his eyes.

?Marry me,? he said, but it was not a question.
