Just because it was low-level and amateurish and failed in its supposed goal doesn't mean it hasn't caused a huge amount of damage. The optics of even a very few Muslims carrying out murder and mayhem are such that it will always provide fuel for the right-wing hysteria machine led by Trunp, Le Pen, Wilders, etc. Actually, I would say that the goal of terrorists pretty much is to empower the far-right rather than actually kill anybody.

One positive is that the news is no longer infested with tony blair trying to tell us what a "man of peace" martin mcguinness was. It was almost as if he was using him as a metaphor for himself.

Has that actually worked in the UK, Alpha?

Uh, correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't the terrorist attacks of the previous year translated to greater support for parties like FN and AfD?

As Ender said, this has never worked in the UK. Keep your hysteria to yourself, Alpha.

Blair is a disgusting lizard. Mo Mowlam was the catalyst of peace in Northern Ireland. She had a courage, human warmth and bluntness that made people stop and think 'this is different, maybe this time there's a real chance'. Blair gave her the NI gig to get rid of her. It was always a political black hole with an element of physical danger to it.

Now he wants to be remembered as the peace bringer. Revolting creature.

I'm not in the business of judging McGuinness though. When you look at what he Unionists were doing when he was a kid in Derry, I can't say I wouldn't have taken the same path.

If terrorists want to bring people around to their way of thinking, killing Katie Hopkins would be a step in the right direction.

Hinty hint hint if any terrorists are reading this.

BBC News reporting that one of the dead is from the US and his wife was seriously injured. They also say one was a female British national who worked close to Westminster Bridge. The police officer and the attacker are the other two.

LOL @ 20 million people marking themselves 'safe' on facebook.

I was only vaguely concerned for my colleagues who were actually in Portcullis House at the time. If there were a crash on the M1 that killed 4 and injured 40 you might be concerned about someone you knew was driving oop North that day but it hardly warrants everyone in a 200 mile radius marking themselves as safe and well. What are we, Americans?

edit:- breaking: police name the attacker

Some Brummie no one's ever heard of, apparently.

I was really worried I'd suffer through "#prayforlondon" type BS posts on Facebook this morning, but thank goodness, no. However, I've blocked quite a few people :)

24 hours later, we are arguing over the location of waste incinerators in Parliament. How very British...

Downplaying the issue does not help the families of the ones who lost their lifes.

Neither does blowing it so out of proportion that it ends up having even more consequences. Besides, I'm sure the last thing the families of those who unfortunately died in this attack care about are what some people on a Star Wars forum have to say about it.

yeurgh thanks for that image. That was awesome. Sorry to hear about the folks who lost their lives, but am grateful it wasn't worse. Better still that folks are carrying on with their lives as per usual.

    Oh please.
As yeurgh said - we're British. We don't panic. Plus, I actually know what its like to have a family killed by terrorism (he was a serving police officer, too)
