    This is posted at: http://filmforce.ign.com/articles/651/651192p1.html

September 15, 2005 - IGN FilmForce can exclusively report that Lucasfilm is seeking screenwriters for its planned TV series based on George Lucas' Star Wars film saga.

Keeping with Lucas' penchant for security, the show will be scripted at the bearded one's secluded Skywalker Ranch. Work will commence this January. Lucas and his colleague Rick McCallum will produce the still untitled show.

The series is slated to run 50 hours and will be a mixture of live-action and CGI. Principal photography will begin in 2007 with filming to take place in Australia.

While the show will apparently revolve around imperial bounty hunters, there could be other directions taken. The series will take place after the Empire has risen to power.

So the show will apparently revolve around Imperial bounty hunters. Is this official, or just speculation based on current available information?

We will probably find out soon.

Thanks for the news so we'll see Boba Fett but I don't think as a major character more as a an occasional guest star. Well this means we'll probably see the Bounty Hunters hunting down Jedi and people a part of the Rebellion. I'd like it if it starred a completely new Bounty Hunter instead of Boba Fett or maybe it could star a band of Bounty Hunters. This news helps with a lot now we know it's going to come out in 2008 and I think my title Star Wars:The Dark Times could still work.

Guys I am sure that the 50 episode thing is only if it is not a big hit.

Well, 50 hours is quite much really. I'd be happy with 50 hours of this series, and 50 hours of another series taking place at a different era instead of 100 hours of between-the-trilogies.

Well, now at least we know that the rumor about Danny Logan being approached by Lucas is probably true.

This is a bit of a disappointment to me - not just the fact that it's getting slashed to half the normal length, but that it's going to focus on 'Imperial bounty hunters.' I mean, ever since ESB, hasn't it been established that Imperials and bounty hunters try not to mix? And in any event, the whole proliferation of bounty hunters everywhere isn't really my favorite thing about Star Wars.

Too bad this isn't set later, or else the phrase 'Imperial bounty hunter' would have immediately mad eme think of Kir Kanos...

I'm a bit confused about the part CGI, part live-action thing, though. I mean, isn't that true for just about every sci-fi show?

I'm pretty sure the IGN guy just got the terminology wrong.
And here I think he's just being specific.

50 hours of quality is better than 100 hours of mediocreness.

I don't think it's set in stone how many hours it will be but if it's a big success I think they will maybe have over a 100 hours of show. Maybe GL wants to get to a show in a different era quicker.

50 hours is 2 seasons worth of episodes- that's probably what they're initially planning for because there's no guarentee any TV show will last more than that. If it becomes a hit and gets the ratings they need, it'llk get renewed beyond that and they'll start moving towards the other 50 or so hours.

Who said there was 25 hours in a season?

No way... 10 shows a season wouldn't surprise me.
