Buff, NY Make a Wish Gala April 21

Make a Wish has invited Garrison Excelsior to appear at the the annual fundraiser in Buffalo. GE helped and had a successful troop in November in Rochester. The event is being held at the Seneca Casino on Saturday April 21.

Make a Wish has requested that the number of costumes on the floor at any given time be no more than 6. There were more at the Rochester event, we we seemed to crowd the floor a little. The Command Staff has asked me to extend the invitation to North Ridge members and pass some information on.

After our joint success at the 2006 Reach For The Stars Gala in Rochester, the Make-A-Wish Foundation has invited us to participate in a sister event in Niagara Falls on April 21st. This is the start of an exciting relationship in Upstate NY with a national organization that does great work.
Based on what MaW coordinators learned from the last event they have asked us to restrict the number of characters on the floor to 6 maximum. They have also requested that we have top-quality, recognizable characters with special request for Darth Vader, Stormtroopers and Chewbacca.
Given the limited scale of this high-profile event we ask that leaders of The North Ridge and Echo Base announce this event, and the process for applying to attend, to their membership.

APPLICATION DETAILS:

On March 19th, 2007 we will begin the selection process. Each applicant must provide the following information:
First & Last Name
email address (or preferred method of contact information)
Costume(s) applying with (in order of applicant's preference)
Attendance probability (definite being 100%, maybe 50%, etc)
Max duration in costume without removing helmet/breaking character

This information along with photos (or links to photos hosted elsewhere) for each costume being submitted must be sent to Nicky Blum, PR Officer for Garrison Excelsior at events@garrisonexcelsior.com by March 18th at 11pm. Nicky will fill the slots based on: 1) Event Host preference, 2) Costume and Group Diversity, 3) Guaranteed Attendence, 4) Attendee Alternate. An announcement will be made to the leadership and the review commitee representative of each group so that they can communicate and confirm attendee details (either accepted, accepted-Alternate, or declined) with their applicants.

A representative from each group will be requested to form a review commitee. That representative should register for Garrison Excelsior's forums to keep in the loop on event details. The review process itself will take place via email.

Our goals will be to exceed the Make A Wish expectations, present a range of exceptional costumes, make this event a reality for all groups possible, build a process that can be used for other events with components added or removed as the event requires.

Can you use the images from 501st.com?

 

I'd prefer to have full body shots (head to toe) where possible and I don't think any of the ones that are part of a 501st member's profile are like that. However, if that's the only photo you have - send it along.

MaW suggested that we have only 4-6 characters on the floor at a time so there are breaks scheduled not only for the costumers comfort but to make sure we only have a certain amount of characters on the floor at a given time. You need to remain in the green room for your entire break even if you are done "resting".

Hope this went well for you guys Gil was great in the poker room that was pretty cool he got a lot of good comments. Hope it was fun. Our Nazi security would not let me up stairs I was told because I was not a paying customer
Oh well thanks to Gil for dropping off my pins they look great!
