I saw the video of Jay's collection on Full Frontal Fashion (they have been showing hours and hours of the 2007 Spring collections on the NYCTV cable channel). And you can see a small screen version of the video here http://www.olympusfashionweek.com/spring2007/designers/jay_mccarroll/index.html

The collection makes more sense when viewed in motion and in sequence on the runway, then in the random still photos. There are a few pieces I really like. I'm hoping a NYC store picks up most of the collection, so I can see the pieces in person.

If you do get to see his pieces in person please report back to us! I am coveting quite a few of them! Especially the white jacket with the grid pattern that has blocks of color here and there and the sweater with blocks of blues fading into browns. Love it!

Ooh, lemme see, what did Uli make? Flowing dresses!!!!!!! Um.

A couple of Jeffrey's things worked for me, but most of it was just weird.

I loved a lot of Laura's stuff, but that outfit where there's ribbons hanging down on the runway from the model's ankles -- wonder if there was a runway roadkill...

Michael's shiny stuff was a little out there even for me, but his white/safari-ish outfits were cool. And his bathing suits were really nice. They put a lot of emphasize on fitting the female form, so I hope it's down to between Laura and him, with Michael winning.

Where's Andrae? Red Lobster with Tim!!

I got a spoiler about the final "four" from my partner's coworker, who worked on the show, but I'm not even going to post it as it will be no doubt censored. Not a problem!

I'm on a few. I am curious as to who the fourth runner up will be! Doesn't Heidi say something in the promos for tomorrow's episode about not being committed to a 'final three'? What the heck does that mean? All four get to compete equally at fashion week? Or mayber only two? Or maybe it's just all a ruse to get us interested in watching. o_O

Well, just from looking at the runway show pictures we knew all four would be at Bryant Park. But the real shocker was that actual outfits they made that were supposed to represent their "signature". Uli really deserved to win. She finally made something a little tailored, but still fun, flirty and her. Jeffrey shocked me with his weird take on "vintage" (sorry it looked like a bag to me...especially the hem - WHAT was his thinking...that's not his "signature" at all!). Laura's was pretty but no surprise. I was also disappointed in Michael's outfit but funny, I didn't see his signature as being "sportswear" like they were saying. I mean all along, he's been designing some pretty sexy, womanly things, but not really sportswear. So when Michael Kors said that to him, I think he was as shocked to hear it as I was. Really weird.

I agree with you completely! The judges had no choice but to vote for Uli's since the others were so off. I like Laura but like the judges, I am bored with the same thing. I'm disapointed with Michael but I don't get their "sportswear" opinion either. I think this statement might confuse him in his next creations! I hope not!

LOL! Yeah, I definitely knew that. I was speculating whether or not all four were going to get to compete equally this time around, i.e. no decoy as in the previous two seasons. I think it's cool that all four get a crack at the final prizes. Each designer is unique and it will be interesting to see which collections the judges responded well to at the Bryant Park show.

And no surprises here, I liked Laura's and Jeffrey's designs the most last night. Uli's was the boring one to me. meh.

I'm looking forward to the reunion special just to see the drama with Keith. [face_laugh]

I was not as jazzed by Uli's dress as the judges were. It was good that she cut it up and changed the silhouette and went short. Michael's and Jeffery's dressed missed the mark.

Sportswear does not have to mean stuff a mom wears to their kids soccer game. It's separates and/or coordinated separates (i.e. not dresses/gowns, the stuff Laura does so well). Michael's Pam Greer outfit would be considered sportswear, and I agree with the judges, and think that he should have gone back to what made that hot pants outfit work and use the same mindset when he did his look.

Jeffery should have done a Ugly/Pretty dress (I really liked his recycle dress), not just a ditsy pretty dress. Anna Sui and Betsy Johnson both do the cute dresses with a rock and roll edge, and Jeffery's dress was not in same league with their designs.

When the judges were talking, I could tell that Uli and Laura were safe and that Michael and Jeffery were at the bottom. But I could not guess who would be auf'ed. This is the first season where the final four didn't have a weakest link that really should not be there. While I still think Jeffery is a jerk, he has done some good work, and has potential.

So when the judges went with final four, I think they got it right.

Edit: A most insightful comment was posted in the comments of Tim Gunn's blog:

I was really disappointed by everyone but Uli last night. Her dress was very cute. Jeffrey's was strange, Michael's was not quite right (I wish he would have used some of the lace fabric to break things up a bit), and I'm so sick of Laura turning in the same silhouette. Oh, it was slightly pink this time, boring, boring, boring.

I finally looked at the photos from the runway show after I found out that will all be competing equally. I was shocked by Jeffrey's collection, mostly because I haven't liked his designs all season, yet that collection was pretty cool. Michael's designs were all too similar as were Uli's. I don't like Laura's stuff. All those feathers and dangly stuff, yuck. As much as I like Michael, I would give the final award to Jeffrey from those photos.

I can't wait to see the reunion show.

Wow, everyone must have been really underwelmed by the garments and the lack of a final 3. No one else has comments?

I don't think the 2 week wait for this episode was worth it.
I also have to say while Uli's dress was the best looking dress there I didn't particularly like it that much.
I really liked where Jeffrey was going but it looks like he didn't budget his time well to finish it properly and that he tried too hard to surprise the judges with a softer romantic look than most of what he's done before.
Michael's dress was awkward looking to me just a bit, and Laura's dress wasn't particularly something special either.
I'm glad they all got the chance to be judged equally for their fashion week collections though. There really isn't a weak link in the bunch. Although I still wish Kayne would have had a chance to do a collection. If Keith got away with ignoring part of the dog challenge and not being eliminated, Kayne shouldn't have been auf'd for ignoring part of the black and white challenge... especially since he really toned down all urges to keep on adding and adding and kept it simple and beautiful. I think he deserved a chance more than maybe Uli or Laura, they both send just about the same stuff down the runway constantly... oh well
I'm excited for the reunion show! Bringing Keith on ought to be interesting. It seems to me though, if it's okay to have him back on the show for the reunion that it would have been okay to have him come back for the black and white challenge (since he did win the first challenge he would have been there had he been auf'd normally).

I've read the allegations regarding the cheating and I think they sound a bit flimsy. I suppose time will tell if it's true or not...I'm inclined to doubt it is. It's disappointing to me to read about. Jeffrey surely has some sort of industrial set up for making his Cosa Nostra clothes. I think he is probably better equipped to sew garments quickly than Laura. Plus, the whole -Tim said to Jeffrey...who said to his mom...who said to Laura's mom...who said to Laura...- it sounds like grade school or something.

Here are a few links to better pictures of the final four collections at Bryant Park and to Jay's collection as well:

I guess I was glad to see the Final Four be the Final Four - especially since all four had very different points of view - and it's kind of silly to have the 4th runner up do a whole collection that doesn't really count. And having to hide which collection is the decoy. It's easier just to let all four do their best and see what happens.

Thanks for posting the link to the better photos of their collections. I gave up and looked at all the pictures. My first impression when I saw the old link was a kind of lukewarm reaction to all the collections. But on closer inspection, I think I liked Jeffrey's best, even though I strongly dislike him. And for the record, I hated his last garment - that red, white, and blue frumpy, amateur looking mess. Ick. I liked Uli's collection too - she is good with prints even if she does them a lot. And she managed to mix in other pieces in her collection, even though I think her prints were stronger. I very much liked her last garment - she must have liked that fabric because she has a long dress with it in her collection!

I was pleasantly suprised by Laura's collection - it's still very Laura, but she mixed up the necklines quite a bit - moreso than she did the whole season. I thought her last garment was beautifully done, but very much the same as what she always does.

I was most disappointed by Michael - I've liked his stuff almost best, week to week, and his collection seemed overly sexy. I didn't think his final garment deserved as much criticism as it got. But I wish he would have toned down his collection a bit. His "Pam Grier" garment was sexy without being obvious - but much of his collection is too obvious.

Just my 2 cents. All in all, I like everything better than I liked last seasson's final collections.

I agree. I was so disappointed by the final collections last year. The wall of satin that won last time still leaves me wondering what they were thinking. Even though I felt the final four weren't up to what I thought the designers could do (especially Michael), they are still much better than those last year.

Ew, ew, ew, ew, ew, ew and ew! Vincent is gross. Hopefully we will never have to see or hear from him again (I'm pretty sure I have typed something like that sentiment a couple of times this season already)! Can we lock Keith and Vincent up together? Yuck.

I'm so happy Michael won the fan favorite!

What a great reunion show that was! Very entertaining. It proved what I already knew: Vincent is wacky, Keith is incapable of owning up to breaking the rules, Laura is fabulous and Malan's laugh is hysterical.

I really appreciated it when Laura tactfully pointed out that Darlene (Angela's mom) was the most difficult client out of the moms and sisters to work with. Go Laura!

So, if Keith's story about how his books were confisicated at the beginning of production and then mysteriously returned to his room were true why didn't he bring that up when Tim was asking him to leave? Why didn't he mention that in his exit interview or in all the various interviews he has given since then? Sounds like a big old story that he made up to me.

I wasn't at all surprised that Michael won as fan favorite. I just wish I liked his final collection. :(

Previews for next week are yucky. I hate that my two faves will be at odds, at big time odds, with one another during fashion week.

Wow is Keith a total jerk or what? He could have come on the reunion show, said that things were not as bad for him as he thought they would be. Say his friends have been supportive, etc. etc.

But no, Keith has to act all immature, say it's not my fault, yada, yada, yada.

First he says that he didn't know that he could not have the books. When every one shoots down that excuse he switches to, OK I had the books, I turned them in, and then they mysteriously were returned to my room.

Make up you mind, if you turned in the books, then you knew you were not supposed to have them.

And then on the going AWOL issue, he tries to blame a nameless PA on suggesting that he leave. And again he is shot down by everyone that you can't even get a PA to let you go to the bathroom w/o escort.

On a more positive note, I'm glad that Michael won the audience choice award, he is such a nice guy, even tempered, respects his momma, and he has great potential as a designer.

"Posted by Barbara: Was there ever a point during Season 3 when you totally disagreed with the judges' pick for either the winner or the loser?

To be blunt and perfectly transparent, I did not agree with Alison?s elimination (Waste Management Recycle America), nor did I agree with Vincent?s win (The Everyday Woman). But, again -- I?m not a judge, thankfully!"

I totally agree with Tim on this. Allison's recycle dress was not the worst and Vincent's dress for Uli's mom was not the best.

It does seem unfair to out based on something you had to come up with using garbage!

Even though I never watch "the View" I happened to be flipping channels and saw that the finalists were on, each with their winning garments. Laura has accused Jeffrey of getting help sewing? What is that all about?
