Making ROTJ

I was reading the book "The making of Return of the Jedi" from 1983 and I found that on the first day of filming of the movie, the first scene they shot was a sandstorm scene right after the sail barge explodes and they escape. It involves violent winds, and an injured Han and Chewie with the rest of the gang walking through a small canyon where the falcon, luke's x-wing, and Lando's Y wing are stationed.

The whole sequence was cut out and not even put back into the Special Edition.

 

Yes, this is one of the few scenes that I would like to be in the AE.

I could live with this sequence not being put back into the film (since the dialogue is pretty much the same as the scene where the Falcon and X-wing go their separate ways), but I would definitely like to see it as bonus material.

Yeah, there weren't that many cut scenes in the OT IIRC, but ROTJ had quite a few.

 

The book also explains that they took out the sandstorm because the audience needed a chance to recuperate from the battle against Jabba.

 

I downloaded a cut scene from Kazaa I think, which showed Luke looking a star destroyer with his binoculurs during the Tantiv IV chase.

It's pretty cool.

 

I know about that cut-scene, but I never ehard about Lando's Y-Wing
