For those of us who don't feel like wading through episode VII rumor threads that are hundreds of pages long and about a variety of topics, can we have a thread that is solely about this subject?

What do we officially know about the decision to drop Arndt from script writing duties? Do we know if Arndt left on good/bad terms? What does it say about this project when multiple reports were coming in saying Abrams wanted to back out months ago, and the original script-writer people were excited about was dropped?

Sadly, we know nothing as of yet, save for the fact that J. J. Abrams has stated that he loved working with Arndt, and Arndt is not necessarily out of the picture when it comes to future Star Wars projects. That's all the news on the subject that I've personally heard thus far.
Also, one of the numerous rumors that's swirling around is that Arndt left the Episode VII script to Abrams and Kasdan so that he could work on Episode VIII, but again that's just a rumor at this point.
