Maldives: Island Paradise?

OK, my mother is somewhat a nut on the topic of charity work, so when the opportunity came to work in a Charitable Organisation (Friends of Maldives), she took it up.

She then shared the situation.

All over the world, the Maldives are renowned for beautiful holiday spots.

So people go there, spend lots of money, and go home, thinking no more.

But the government is dictatorial. Freedom of speech is not advocated. People are taken from their homes in their sleep. There isn't even a voting system.

There are lots of nasty regimes around the globe, anyone who thinks otherwise is a fool.
