SAN FRANCISCO - A man was cited for taking snapshots of the new blockbuster "Star Wars: Episode III ? Revenge of the Sith" with his digital camera. The man, whose name has not been released, was cited Thursday outside the Del Oro Theater in Grass Valley, Calif., a small town about 60 miles north of Sacramento. He was spotted by moviegoers aiming his camera at the screen during the late afternoon screening. A woman complained to theater staff after she said he kept bumping into her chair. When they approached him, they noticed the camera, said theater owner Mike Getz. When the movie ended, he simply walked out ? followed closely by theater staff. "We asked him to wait. He wouldn't wait. He kept walking," Getz said. The man was given a citation for violating a penal code that prohibits operating a recording device in a motion picture theater without the proprietor's consent ? a misdemeanor punishable by a fine up to $2,500 and imprisonment. Grass Valley Police Capt. Dave Remillard said he would leave it up to the district attorney's office to determine if other charges were warranted.
