Man to Man Coverage: Why?

    Part of it also could be that it is just plain harder to fight 2 v 1 without a lot of practice with your partner. Everyone knows that Yoda is a way better swordsman then Obi-Wan. If they went in together, they could have been less sucessful, because they don't know what each other is doing. Since Obi-Wan is not powerful enough anyway, he could have just been in the way.

    The problem the Jedi have faced, is that they keep killing one Sith - which is not good enough.
    Killing one is not enough, as the other Sith will keep coming back with another apprentice.

    So here they are, really up against it - alone, outlawed, and on the run.
    They have a very small window of opportunity.
    Sidious is in one place, Anakin is in another.
    The way I see it, they just don't have time to go trapsing around trying to tackle both together - The Sith must be dealt with straight away while the opportunity presents itself.
    And that means mano a mano...
