Mandalorian Culture Article by Karen Traviss: Insider #86

I have submitted her name as Vhonte Tervho (pronounced Fon'tee Ter'Fo). I created her, may as we be able to name her.

And I have a couple of questions, BTW:

First, are you allowed to tell us what manner of beastie Vhonte's just downed, and secondly, do you have a back-story (family, number of siblings, past exploits, likes and dislikes, etc) for her?

 

I actually wanted the beast to be a Wampa, but I also made it just a random animal with white fur and Long horns.

As for her backstory... nothing yet, but we'll see.

 

Hey everyone, be sure to take a look at the newest icon update! There is an icon of Vhonte Tervho, the Mandalorian female! (the icon's made by me, btw... )

And, someone else in the Icon Thread made an icon of another art out of the article we haven't seen yet. It's about a Mandalorian wedding:

Now that´s another kriffin sweet picture. Too bad that I probably won´t be able to get this issue of Insider in Sweden.. Now I got to put my hope on that someone puts the pictures on the internet.

 

That girl has one of the coolest helmet designs I've seen. Very neat.

Any word on what era Mandos these are? Boba's new dynasty? Pre-Death Watch?

 

There's no basis for it, but I'm guessing new era/dynasty.

Marriage is discussed, including the vows. I got my copy today. It's all about culture and language, virtually nothing about history. It's vaguely in-universe, referring to the Galactic Institute of Anthropology as the author. I suppose everyone wants me to say more...

 

Sounds extremely cool, but...

That seems a little dubious. I mean, uh, aren't the Mandos supposed to be rather secretive about their culture?

 

According to Abel Pena the article is talking mostly about the Post-Mandalorian War Mando's. So it pretty much is talking about the Mercenary side of things.

Not to say that the Alien Race/Crusaders didn't inspire the way the Mandalorian mercs do things.

There are 6 original images in the article, of which 3 have been posted here. The other 3 are as follows: A picture of Vhonte Tervho, the female Mando with red armor, fighting alongside other Mandos; a 13-year old Mandalorian being taught how to shoot; and one of the temporary homes the Mandos build during their nomadic travels.

This is not a fight you want to get into. Try explaining to someone how it doesn't matter that George Lucas said that the saga was narrated back to someone by Artoo...ugh...

Mr. Lucas purchased the Group shot w/ the Female and the shot with her over the beastie. A private collector took hold of the wedding piece a wee bit ago... but if ANY Mando is interested in the Father-Son or the Mando altering his helmet, let me know, the original B&W art is available.

 

George Lucas bought one? That must have been quite an honour.

*sigh*
