[Maps] Game world size comparison

Found this on Kotaku. I had no idea Just Cause 2 was so big.

 

yea, it's only 400 square miles. look at daggerfall. dear god that is HUGE.

 

Randomly generated worlds shouldn't count. I don't think you'll ever beat Elite II with its entire galaxy of planets.

 

Like some of the comments on the Kotaku article said, I wish they'd've included a few others like Morrowind and GTA 4.

 

That comparison seems off. Look at the size of roads on each. How are they measuring the size?

 

These are based on maps in the games though, so the roads might not be to scale. I don't know how it's measured, probably a combination of developer/publisher sources and game measurements.

 

Yeah, why does a city block from Burnout Paradise look to be the same size as an entire zone in WoW?

 

If you drove a Burnout Paradise car through a WoW zone at full speed, it wouldn't seem so big any more. It takes ages to drive across Burnout Paradise, I can believe it's that much bigger.
