    Have been checking out Twitter - Its incredible that this woman who left office 23 years ago can still generate such hostility and out right loathing.

    Half the people dancing on her grave probably weren't even born when she was Prime Minister.

    When she left office I was 13 and we were allowed to watch it happen at school. I was totally astonished that someone other than Mrs Thatcher could lead the country - Such was her complete dominance while I was a kid. [face_laugh]

    I was a teenager in England when she was in Power (with a capitol P) and I'll say this much - I utterly disagreed with her then, and still do BUT she had the 'courage of her convictions', she was a woman - a strong woman in a VERY historically 'Man's World' - indeed, the UK's first female Prime Minister. From what I understand, her opponents/detractors respected her as a person even if they didn't see anywhere near eye to eye politically, and I give her credit for making me *THINK* as a teenager.

    So Rest in Peace, Maggie Thatcher - for all the headaches you gave me, I offer my grudging admiration.

    She was still PM when I moved to the UK from the US. She stepped down the following year. I liked her. I knew she was in bad health - I think she had Alzheimers and had previously had minor strokes. I'm glad she went peacefully. The news mentioned that her not lying in state before the funeral was at her request - she didn't want that.
