Ooo, I was so excited when I saw this thread. I just started the first Dragonlance book, and I'm pretty excited. For some reason, I keep thinking about the LOTR movies whn I read it, but in a good way I'm only about 100 pages in, so I don't know much. Does anyone have a list (in order) of what they've written?

 

I've been looking for a good list of all the books they've written together but I can't seem to find one! Their author pages aren't too good

No problem! I'm thinking of reading the Soverign Stone Trilogy next. I know they were published within the past few years so I know I'll be able to find them with no problem.

Has anyone else read them? I know next to nothing about them.

 

They have a lightsaber cover and Amazon reviews weren't too positive, but that isn't a baseline to compare. They recycle the typical fantasy archetypes so they've never really interested me.

What is considered the best book or trilogy todate?

 

Ex, the first Dragonlance trilogy is great fun but I fear that you're a little too... something for such lighthearted fluff.

It's only that I've read my fair share of lighthearted reads, and a lot of the market fair is lighthearted. I haven't come across much serious storylines with prose to match, so I tend to yearn for them. I want something serious, not because I'm finicky, but because I've hardly read them.

 

Their Chronicles trilogy is moderately entertaining. It has one or two great moments, it has one or two bad moments, and is generally just average entertainment reading. Their Legends trilogy is a lot better. It's not the best fantasy trilogy ever by any means, but I think that it's worth reading, and it does have what I consider to be one of the top ten greatest scenes in any fantasy novel in it.

 

Which is . . .?

 

That'd be spoiling. But I, jaded reader that I am, never fail to get a little choked up by that scene. There are only two or three scenes in any book that get me choked up, and that's one of them.

 

Ah, a highly emotional scene, then? Deadhouse Gates' ending would be mine then.

 

I like the Dragonlance series but I always found that the plot/narrative of Chronicles was a bit simplistic (then the group of heroes met at centaur, which took them to meet a unicorn, then they fought a dragon), but Dragons of Summer Flame is actually one of my all time favourite books and I really enjoyed the War of Souls series too (though I was disappointed by the complete demonisation of Kitiara who I've always preferred to Laurana).

Has anyone read Amber and Ashes yet? I'm having difficulty getting hold of it.

It certainly seemed to diverge from the normal plotline of Dragonlance. A lot of it is about the spreading of an evil cult that's actually widely successful. Wouldn't want to give away too much more though

Although I can't say that I really like Mina. She gets punked around too much.

 

I agree, much too simplistic It's kind of a bummer, really. Not enough detail and depth.

 

I agree they are a great team! Though they have written so many books that with my schedule I can never keep up with them all! I recommend the cronnicles up through hero's of the dragon lance series

 

Has anyone erad all their books?
