Having stared at this image for far too long (in HD) on far too many occasions there's really only the one 'body' (lying between Rey and Kylo) that I'm not 100% sure is in fact merely a rock.

 

No no no, that's all forgotten now. Didn't you see Nightangel's post above? Apparently the new angst will be that he is made to be too awesome in Ep.8 so that he will have to be eliminated in 9 for shock value. Keep up!

Super stoked (snoked?) to read the latest MSW leaks. I had a suspicion that the KOR would be involved in the filming on Malin and elsewhere - I guess we were shown footage from VIII in VII without realising it.

 

Luke is described as a little too dark with him wanting Kylo dead but I'm reserving judgement, for now.

 

Well I mean didn't OB1 and Yoda want Vader dead? And wanted Luke to do it???

Obi-Wan: Then the Emperor has already won. You were our only hope.

 

And he didn't do it but now he wants Rey to do it? I'll find it quite disappointing if this is true.

 

We don't really know if Luke really tells Rey to kill Kylo, maybe it's more like what Obi-Wan said to Luke: "you must face him again" or something like that.
I also can't imagine Luke asking Rey to literally kill Kylo.
What I do think is that Luke will have a diminished patience after all the **** that has been thrown at him. These events made sure Luke's patience threshold was exceeded, Luke comes back into the game but with a bit less light and more grey (hence his darker outfit)

 

Well, FWIW the report implies that Luke is not the first one to attack and use his lightsaber in defence so I guess he has not forgotten everything about his training but if Luke is more grey now, then why is he all in white at the end of TFA ?

 

Kylo will have to seriously dominate Rey (and probably do something particularly badass earlier in the movie) for this to work without him totally losing face. To lose to Rey in 7 then just run away from Luke in 8 will just make him a comedy villain.

But if this scene is real, then it will probably be the most exciting, epic scene I've ever seen committed to film. Everything I want to see from Luke basically.

 

Symbolism.
Luke is a Jedi Master, his traditional Jedi outfit at the end of TFA showed that.
In VIII he will be back in business and we know from ROTJ that he's able to tap into the darkside of the force (when he bashed into Vader with his lightsaber) without getting consumed by it, I think he mastered this feat and that's why he's grey (and therefore wearing a darker outfit, it's symbolism). (btw. we also see this happening to Rey during her battle with Kylo in the forest, coïncident?).

 

It may be that Luke has put on an outfit to go to this Space Casino and he and Rey are going to the Falcon when Kylo and the KoR arrive. It would be quite natural for Luke to not want anyone at the Space Casino to know he's a Jedi....so he changes and trims his hair.

 

well either way Luke's going to avenge those who have died in vein from the KOR.

Sure it's Rey alright but those are rocks not bodies. At least mostly.

Yeah this is why I'm having trouble seeing the vision as foreshadowing to Acht-To. In the original call sheets, wasn't a part of the vision supposed to include the KoR attacking a village to steal the lightsaber? I have generally assumed that is what that shot was. It's referred to as a battlefield, and I don't buy the rock theory at all. The guy, the "clan leader"/"warrior," that we watch Kylo kill in the vision looks as much like rocks as every other body on the field. There's no one else on Acht-To for Kylo and the KoR to kill...

 

the flashback sequence was never dead padawans as people thought, but was dead bodies as the script says.

I don't think this is/was a vision of VIII

 

So is it Luke in the vision he killed the man with a beard and weird hat

 

The only part of the vision that I think is foreshadowing was "Kylo confronts Rey in a dark snowy forest" which foreshadows their later duel on SKB obviously. The rest, seem like visions of the past:

-The Luke/Vader duel on Bespin was obviously.
-Luke putting his hand on R2 while flames/smoke are seen in the background. This is, I think, probably him finding his temple burning and his other students all dead.
-"Little Rey" being left on Jakku.
-Kylo (and somewhat leaner/younger-looking Kylo to me BTW) and the KOR committing another massacre (sometime after his betrayal but pre-Jakku I think).
