    WAY too long!!

I really hope Mark's performance really ends up being awesome. Poor guy does not get nearly enough credit for his acting in the OT.

Oh no, Mark is going to talk again.

Do you think he is going to complain that Luke is not a God Almighty in TLJ, yes or of course?

Hopefully the speculation that Alden Eirenreich discussed issues with the direction of Han will put to bed the notion that Mark Hamill's talk of "fundamentally disagreeing" was anything more than him making a point of how RJ won him over with his vision

"Not in our times?" What exactly does that mean? And Star Wars doesn't take place "in our times" anyway.

Nightangel might be talking about movies - even fantasy movies - reflecting, generally speaking, "modern societal values."

Which is why, for example, you won't see another SW heroine put in a skimpy metal bikini ;)

Religious vows are still a thing, but, arguably, considered more foreign and less relatable to the GA than they were hundreds of years ago, in more overtly religious eras.

And I politely repeat, if the Jedi were set up as Templars*, I could easily see making the Force into a religion. I don't mind using belief, faith or ritual in my fantasy, SF, etc. but incorporate it into the characters and story where it makes sense. For the record, I never bought the relligiously inclined pseudo-science of the Immaculate Midichlorians regarding Anakin either (so my druthers with this goes back almost 20 years).

And when you start bringing in religious analogs in, you're bound to upset somebody. I'll add that I dislike when people preach politics or religions to me, and when entertainment starts veering in that direction I shut down.

So, as I cheer next to nightangel on this prickly point, I'll keep thinking Jedi are wizardly knights and leave it at that. I'll just continue to Luke forward to seeing my favorite space wizard unleash some fun here on out.

*Not the Blind Dead (that would be the Sith variation :p )

most of our actual biggest problems are caused by religion and every side thinking their religion is the only solution.

Is that not literally what Star Wars is about, though? The Jedi think they're right, the Sith/dark-siders think they're right, the dark-siders manipulate non-Force-users to fight for them, and they all go to war?

I would argue that it's more ideology that's a problem, and ideologues need not be religious.

    ETA: I am utterly baffled by the Force as a "religion." What does that make Jedi, then? Or any Force-sensative? Inherently superior beings? X_____x;;;

I never saw the force as a religion and just as a spiritual way. Spirituality and religion are 2 completely different things. I'm a spiritual person, but I reject religion as an institution. [face_dunno]

The idea of somebody "getting" a star as if it's some award bestowed on them has long been a misinterpretation. Perhaps it's intentionally reported that way. But literally anybody in the entertainment industry can get one as long as they, or they're representatives, pay for it.

Just adds more to my speculation he'll appear at Comic Con. Maybe he announces or hints at it here.

Since the interview has happened by now, do we know what was said?
